The first time I ever saw something like that it was a toilet made out of Claremont's X-Men #1

that toilet one is kinda cool until you realize

that's a toilet

I don't like how he had to reuse the same pictures. :down

The shot of the toilet bowl is making me particularly uncomfortable.

How are those made? Is it like a paper mache type of thing?

haha no. It's Decoupage. You dilute a little glue with water and brush it on all the images. With furniture you also add a sealant layer so that you don't rip all the paper off. You can do it with pretty much piece of furniture.

Do you know if they plan on doing anymore movies from the Left Behind series?

i actually have no idea. i haven't seen the films but i hear they are pretty bad.

i wouldn't mind seeing a big budget film of them but i doubt it'd ever happen. i'd even accept a tv series. there's some killer scenes in the books that i'd love to see on film

The first film was decent IMO. The next 2 however seemed all over the place. I've never read the books so I can't comment on how drastic the changes were but from what I hear, that's why people consider them a failure.

I'm a BIG G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero geek & proud of it. (hence my user name. :woot:) I also collect dvds & also a Star Wars & Trekkie geek too!! I'll post pics soon!!!

I've been collecting movie tickets since SM3. All my friends were like WT*. lol

One of my man 'nerd shirts'. The design is supposed to be like that, before we start pointing out that it's missing pieces of the design.

I collect progams and playbills from all the shows I see. :)

I actually have to buy a Spider-Man one because they didn't have them out when I saw the show.

that's the only show i've seen so far. i'd like to see more though

My review from another board.

I saw the 2nd to last show before they took off for some revamps. I'm curious to see what they changed but not looking to fork over $140 to see it.

So yesterday, I went to see Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

We go into the theater and it's filled with younger people with enthusiasm and anticipation.

The show starts off with 4 teenagers (3 boys and 1 girl) discussing their story of Spider-Man. Thanks to the girl and her story of the Greek character, Arachne they decide to go through with an origin story. So typical stuff, Peter is bullied in school, is friends with MJ, goes to Norman Osborn's lab, gets bit by a spider, defeats Bonesaw, inadvertently causes the death of his uncle, realizes with great power comes great responsibility, becomes Spider-Man. (whew)

I stopped there because at that moment, something goes wrong technically and they stopped the show for one (1) minute. Now you would think that wouldn't be a big deal but for a show that's had this many troubles, you would think that there would had their s' together.

Anyways, we are back, he's Spider-Man (and the costume wasn't "bad" considering this was a broadway show), JJ and the Bugle are calling him a menace, Osborn becomes the Green Goblin, captures MJ, Spider-Man defeats him and rescues MJ. (Intermission)

The second act really goes kinda downhill with them using Arachne as the main villain. She is the one who gave Peter his power and tries through "erotic" dreams to entice him to be with her. Arachne is displayed a woman suspended from the rafters with 6 legs and her hands as her final 2 legs. Yeah, I know. She uses illusion to mess with Peter, captures MJ and tries to get him to be with her. Obviously, they fight, he refuses to kill her and she realizes her mistake. Yeah, yeah, I know. So she releases MJ and they are reunited. Sirens sound and she tells him to go get them, Tiger.

And fin.

Okay, where to start. First the stunts and choreography of Spider-Man, Goblin, Arachne swinging through the audience, even Spider-Man jumping to the Mezzanine and the nosebleed seats were pretty good. I was just glad no one fell on me or injured themselves through the show.

The acting was good. Peter, MJ and Norman were a little more overstated but it's Broadway so......

Now the songs. I'm not a huge U2 fan but I have a few songs on my iPod. I wouldn't say the music was bad, but I was expecting to like it. Anytime they do a "rock" opera, I kinda do like their music better than a regular show's. I saw Rock of Ages and I would recommend that over this.

I really couldn't get into the Green Goblin costume. I mean they explain that he's working on gene splicing and he's the result of it.

Yeah, that's it. The other character is called Swiss Miss. No, not kidding.

Now they really should of stuck with the Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin and that whole thing with Arachne was just .

You would think with 65 million dollars, I would have been blown away by this but I left shrugging my shoulders. However, the place was packed and erupted in applause like they just watched James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman do some riveting scene from Hemingway play. Again, like I said earlier, a lot younger crowd.

You know I saw Evil Dead on Broadway. That had a much smaller budget and it was considered "Off Broadway". Now, the effects were lower but the music was so much better and I'd recommend that over this.

In the end, like I said to Daisy, I had to witness this, I didn't think I was going to be wow'ed by it but it certainly met my "expectations". So if you are in NY, don't really care for broadway, like Spider-Man and have like $142 a ticket to blow. Go see Spider-Man. I can't even imagine what the unvamped version of this show did.
