What Are The Blind Spots Of Your Own Fanboy/Fangirl Resume?

^ Looks pretty good actually, with the exception of that lead character. Not feeling her, but the rest is appealing.

I thought some of the TV show you're into count as fantasy.

I only listed DC because I grew up with Batman and all of em as a kid...moreso than Marvel...which Spider-man was the only tv cartoon show I watched as well. Just because I prefer Marvel over DC now, doesn't hurt to at least acknowledge DC as to how I got into the whole comic book world genre. Laugh all you want...it doesn't matter anymore.

These days, I don't watch much TV. Unless you are referring to the ones I watched growing up...

The MCU: I can acknowledge that they've had great success financially and somehow critically as well, but the movies just don't do much for me. They just seem so...vanilla or something. When DC disappoints me, I wish I could appreciate the MCU more and turn to them for comfort, but no...

I can see that and actually agree to a certain extent. The films being intertwined masks the vanilla.

Sadly and shockingly, I've never gotten into any of these things:

Doctor Who
Transformers
Harry Potter
Pirates of the Caribbean
Lord of the Rings / Hobbit
The Hunger Games
Star Trek
Chronicles of Narnia
Godzilla / King Kong

However, I feel like what I'm into makes up for what I'm a not a fan of. :yay:

DC (Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Arrow)
Marvel (Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, X-Men)
Star Wars
James Bond
Indiana Jones
Mission: Impossible
Planet of the Apes
Men in Black
The Terminator
The Matrix
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Alien
Die Hard
Lethal Weapon
Back to the Future
Jurassic Park
Rambo
Predator
Resident Evil
Mad Max
Robocop

Ain't no thing. The bold are also things I've not had great love for even if I am familiar with them more or less. Trek though... Yeah I was RAISED a Trekkie.

Alright, since people are doing lists now:

Anime - I've seen plenty, even liked a couple, but overall, it's just not my thing.

LotR - I own the Extended Versions on DVD. Watched them once and mildly enjoyed them. No plans to do so ever again. The Hobbit movies were a straight-up chore to watch and I have no idea why I even bothered watching all of them, lol.

Batman - I'm a big DC fangirl save for this character. I love the Bat-family, LOVE the rogues, loved the Nolan trilogy and BTAS is my favorite animated series of all-time...but unfortunately I find Bruce Wayne to be the least interesting part of his own world. I enjoyed the comics more when Dick Grayson was Batman.

X-Men - I enjoyed the animated series, Whedon's "Astonishing" run, and a couple of the films but I just don't get energized by any of these characters or their world.

Fantastic Four - the only reason I care about Marvel possibly getting the rights back to this is for Galactus and Silver Surfer. The actual F4 bore me to tears in all media.

Community - Tried to get into it several times because friends love it, but I just don't get it.

The Walking Dead - Dropped this show like a bad habit after S4 because I realized I was watching it out of obligation, not out of excitement or interest. Had the same experience with the comics a few years prior.

Doctor Who - It's alright. I'll watch it sometimes when nothing else is on, but that's about it.

Godzilla/Kaiju movies - A couple of my friends are such devoted fans of this stuff they host a fairly successful podcast about it. They've tried to convert me. It hasn't worked.

LOTR/Hobbit
Harry Potter
POTC
The Walking Dead

Batman Staples - Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory and Knightfall were chores to read.

Captain America - I couldn't get myself invested in the first two movies.

Avengers - The Age of Ultron is my favorite of the big event Marvel movies.

Dragonlance Chronicles - I started the first book back in 09 and ended up dropping it. The magic wasn't there for me.

Wheel of Time - I dropped it after the third book. More the same from Dragonlance - I wasn't feeling the magic.

The Kingkiller Chronicles - I started it and couldn't get further; I think having read Harry Potter as a kid probably got in the way of me enjoying this one.

Game of Thornes - I don't have cable so I haven't seen one episode, and that type of fantasy takes a lot for me to get into. Maybe I'll give it a try when it's going into syndication.

Anime - Other than Akira, I just couldn't get into it.

Harry Potter - Again, that kind of fantasy is hard for me get into.

Pokemon (after first gen) - I was into it at first, but right around my junior and senior year of HS I just fell out of it.

LOTR - Same as Harry Potter.

The Walking Dead - I liked a few of the books, but again no cable to check it out. Plus I can only take so much zombie survival stuff.

Star Wars (outside the movies) - I guess I'm only a causal fan when it comes to this.

Community - I watched this a lot last year and 2014, looking back at it now it was only because there was nothing else on. I mean, all the characters on that show were *******s IMO.

Harry Potter. Enjoy it but I'm an LOTR, Narnia guy.

Star Trek. I love the new films and I've wratched Khan and one other one from 1998 I believe.... But outside of that I know nothing.

Game of Thrones. Credit that more up to getting into the game late and not having the time to catch up on it. I'd give it a shot, but don't have that kind of time right now.

Dr. Who. Never got into it. But as a creative, I absolutely love the idea of it's long history.

The Walking Dead.

Online massive world type gameplay. Never saw the point. Would never have the time to even consider the point.

Everything Nintendo post 64. Not out of lack of liking Nintendo - I love Nintendo and I'm a Rare kid all the way, just due to Sony and Microsoft.

Loathing area: anime. Some I can stand, when no other choice in style of animation (superhero shows, movie tie-ins) but I don't see what people like in it. Only good original I know and can name is Akira. This includes shows, films, and comics (no Dragon ball Z, no Pokemon, etc)

I tried to get into it because people seem to love it. Couldn't see the appeal either.

I LOVE THIS POST.
Because that's what I saw of the show, unlikable characters.

Exactly! I watched an episode recently and thought "damn it's no wonder they had no friends and everyone at Greendale hated them".

good thread. i'm only on page one, but i'll throw something in here.

i have no interest in the following:

Walking Dead
Breaking Bad
Hannibal
Doctor Who (way too much to get into)

ive never seen any LotR or Hobbit Movies, the only Star Wars I've seen is the new one, there's a ton of stuff i've not seen. i'm not necessarily against seeing these things, i've just not had an opportunity or time to check them out

I kinda agree with WHO. I got into it with Tennant's run and had a passing understanding of the WHO mythology but it's a DECADES long mythos with tons of tie in material (comics, radio programs, novels) and I can get being overwhelmed. I guess I am a WHO fan that just muddles through it all. Thank goodness for Wikipedia when it comes to this stuff. :woot:

i had no interest in Game of Thrones at all, until it came up on the Hype TV Club list. i've since seen every episode and am up to date. i enjoy the mythos of it all, but don't care for all the blood and gore, which is a big sell for most.

my to-see, to-read, to-listen to lists are way too long and i'm constantly adding stuff to them. i wish i had more time to experience all the film, tv,music, books, arts that i want to

I don't know if the "gore ect." is a big part of the appeal exactly. More I think that the inclusion of things like the gore and the explicit sexuality add, along with other particular elements focused on (politics, religion, economics, geography, history both ancient and recent) creates a very "real" and lived in world, thus immersing the viewer into the tapestry that is the show's stories and putting a lot of meat on the various characters' bones... But yeah, I won't deny that "bare breasts and dragons" don't hurt the show either. :cwink:

I guess the one thing we can all agree on is that a lot of us just don't have the time to get into some of this stuff.

There's a bunch of stuff that I can't get into despite trying.

GoT
Anime
LotR

There's somethings I have no idea how they're so popular because they're just so awful, like Supernatural. It's just so bad. It's like all the worst parts of Buffy/Angel put into a blender and thrown at a wall.

I do, however, have active hate for Harry Potter.

As much as I love LEGO Lord of the Rings video game, I will include that story in the 'Blind Spot' area.
Thought about the story while playing the game again, and scratched my head a lot.

A bunch of the big Sci Fi shows: BSG, Firefly, Stargate, ect.
