Animation Shrek gets rebooted

There’s really no reason for this. If they’re bringing the cast back, why not just make it Shrek 5? They’ll still have the same results.

DreamWorks looked at Boss Baby and decided to pour money on it. This does not surprise me one bit.

I suppose the saving grace is that a producer on the Despicable Me films is responsible for them? But as I've never seen those films, I can't speak to their quality other than the fact that they bring in a ton of money for the studio.

Doesn't Puss and Boots have a pretty successful running show on Netflix right now? What is the point of this reboot. If they want to keep the same cast but tell a story of everyone together, I'm assuming without Shrek's kids, why not just make a sequel set before the events of Shrek 3?

Shrek is one of those movies that didn't need a sequel. The first one was excellent. Every sequel that came out after that was terrible.

Substantial amount of new tropes to riff on.

When you thought reboots could not be more lame....
Anyways, it's not public money and the originals movies will be still available, so...why not if that can make some viewers happy.

Looking forward to the new looks of the characters. Every generation deserves a beginning.

Shrek 2 was great. After that it got dicey.

No idea why they're rebooting this when there are tons of properties out there that they could do. We already have a very successful version of this story to watch.

Though I'm not sure what they're doing, are they relaunching the franchise from the beginning or just doing another sequel?

At first I was like “Maybe this could work if it’s Shrek 5 in disguise, and play on reboots, like it’s a spell and everything was reset for a do-over. But then I realized that’s a lot like what Shrek 4 did. I mean different circumstances but same “alternate universe” idea.
This makes no sense to me.

This bull **** about reboots for a 'new generation' really pisses me off.

The current Shrek is already part of this generation though. The first isn’t even that old, and is super big in modern pop culture.

You know the way you introduce the new generation to Shrek? You show them the existing films.

Unless this a parody of the "reboot" craze, I don't get it. How is it a reboot if they aren't actually changing anything?
