Surprised there wasn't already a thread on this film. That said, here's the new poster AND brand new trailer:

I think this is a GREAT way to do an interesting spin-off to the "Shrek films. Puss In Boots is probably my favorite character out of all those in the series, and I'd love to see what he was up to BEFORE he met Shrek (this is, of course, a prequel to his first appearance in Shrek 2, btw)! Hell, the trailer is really entertaining and shows that this might be 1,000 times better than the last 2 Shrek films combined. What do you guys think?

And all I hear are crickets chirping...

Seriously, guys, THOUGHTS? Does anyone have an opinion on this film??

It looks fine, I guess, perfectly harmless. That's about it; I'm guessing there won't be anything particularly wrong with it, but nothing particularly right or memorable about it either. The Puss in Boots character was hilarious in Shrek 2, and I liked him fine in the third and fourth films, but he doesn't contribute much to those films. So the big question is: Why now? Why this movie now, 7 years after the character debuted and well after the Shrek series petered out? (And yes, I do know that the answer is money. DreamWorks is not shy about wringing everything they can out of a franchise.)

Actually, they've been planning this ever since Shrek 2 in 2004.

im definetly going to see this. i love the shrek movies (even tho 3 was the least favorite) and this looks pretty much the same. apparently it takes place before he met shrek so its not going to contradict those films. itd be funny actually to see some kind of hint or cameo tho

trailer looked good, puss was always my favourite character in the shrek movies so i'll definatley check it out :awesome:

haha, well I think people are being nice. :cwink: I'm giving this one a miss.

I love that even tho he is this tough bad ass character his 'cat behavior' still pops up like when he drops what he is doing to chase that beam of light on the ground or how he drinks the milk :). NICE use of the music from the Mask of Zorro trailer over the Puss trailer. I am SO seeing this as I am too a big fan of the character and the fact that 3 of my fave cats were orange tabby cats like Puss does not hurt either ;).

Was that a prison rape joke?

It looks like it could be better than Shrek 3 and 4.

^Anything can be better than Shrek 3 at this point.

I'll check this out on DVD.

Actually looks better&funnier than I expected!!

This thing is getting some decent reviews, even from geek sites. Del Toro's involvement obviously ain't hurting that, but I may check this out on the weekend.

The trailer looks really good & funny!!! I'll probably go see it whenever the opportunity arises.

I still haven't seen a Shrek film. However, I liked Puss in Boots as a kid so I'm tempted to see this eventually.

It looks like a fun film from a pretty solid franchise, so I don't see the issue.

Caught this yesterday, it actually takes you back to the humor of the first Shrek. They do another catnip joke, but this time Puss is like, "it's for my glaucoma."

I saw this, The Rum Diary, In Time, and Johnny English Reborn on the same day..

I think this movie was the strongest of all four.

Very good film!!!

Might I also say that this is one of the best 3D movies I've seen this year.

Both in its effectiveness and also in overall quality.

I have no desire to ever see this film in my lifetime.

Dude, neither did I.

Unless you have a hatred for animated movies or cats in boots, I can't think of a reason NOT to recommend this to anyone.
