Siege

Siege: The Cabal #1 Preview

dr42du.jpg

THE SIEGE STARTS HERE!! Remember when you were first introduced to the Cabal, the gathering of the most sinister members of the Marvel Universe, and you said to yourself: Well, that's going to blow up in everyone's face! Well, you were right and it happens right here!! Norman Osborn faces off with Doctor Doom and his mysterious threat to Doom is revealed. All of this is setting the stage for next month's explosive event: SIEGE!

Ladies and gentlemen, Norman has left the building(or is about to open the door).

Also going back to the Iron man suit promo.

1) I dont think its a new suit(well could be since extremis armor suffers from being extremis armor) but its simply the artist design. Same guy who makes Wolverine look more animal then his actual suit(long ears and what not).

2) Again its a promo so shouldn't take everything with a grain of salt. But the guys hands are well exposed. Bucky happens to have an all metal arm.

I bet Doom put a little microphone in the Gobby mask and he's the one talking to him all this time.

Well the Goblin has spoken to Normie even when theres no mask near him. Tho i'm sure Doom would know how to make that work, kinda cool idea overall. =p

Siege: Embedded in the Trenches

"This four-issue series will also give readers the perspective of members of the Marvel Universe media, a group that helped Norman Osborn's stratospheric rise to power following the end of Secret Invasion.
"As the Siege begins, Ben is one of the few who think Norman is doing anything wrong," reveals Reed. "Osborn's done a good job of surrounding himself with cheerleaders and making the story on the airwaves the story he wants told. Part of Ben's drive in the story is to show the world who Norman Osborn really is."
Until then, Osborn will continue to manipulate the news media in much the same way he has so far.

"The media is a big, big piece of Norman's move into Asgard," notes Reed. "He picks out the reporters he wants on the scene and he positions them to see his triumph first hand."Reed-who also wrote SECRET INVASION: FRONT LINE, another series that provided fans with Ben Urich's perspective on the events of the Skrulls' invasion-says that a number of differences exist between the two projects.

Doom used this floating microscopic robot to lead the Hulk around one time. He'd have NO problem doing that to Normie.

Normie has been out of his league for a while.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I agree.

Embedded sounds tempting because Volstagg will appear and I sometimes like street-level perspectives on big events, but I'm reminded of the Frontline minis accompanying previous events and I've never really been a fan of Ben Urich as a character. I'll probably decide whether to buy it on impulse after flipping through it at the shop.

The only problem plaguing Front Line is the plain and simple fact that Sally Floyd is a horrible character. But I found Secret Invasion: Front Line to be pretty cool. Pretty much for the complete lack of Sally Floyd and focusing more on the far more interesting Ben Urich (who I like).

Ben lacks personality to me. He's "Newspaper Man," the archetype of every old, wizened journalist ever. That kind of bores me because that's effectively the character type, if not the specific character, that they use for every single news-based comic ever. I'm tired of it.

She hasn't featured in much besides Deadline (which no one's heard of), The Pulse, and the beginning of Young Avengers, but I would've really liked to see Kat Farrell instead of Ben. She's sassy. :)

Who wants some Siege previews regarding our favorite Thor and Sentry? Here goes:
Thor kills Sentry, but its not like we care lol!

Cabal One-Shot

We start off with Norman talking to someone, who is telling him that Asgard doesnt belong on Earth. The voice turns out to be that of the Green Goblin. Norman tells it he'll talk to Loki, and thanks the mask for telling him what to do.

Next Norman is sitting with the Cabal, Doom arives, and argues with Norman about who he's picking them off one by one. He then demands that Namor is brought back. Repeatedly.
Norman asks if Doom's in or out and calls in his secret weapon, and Doom starts a sentence with I'd rather die than- so Norman tell the Secret weapon person to kill him.

It turns out its a doombot who release millions of weird robo bug things that attack the tower. The tower is evacuated while Norman waits behind his shield,
Luckily for him the Sentry comes to his rescue and destroys the doombot.

You never see who the weapon is, but he scares the bejeebuz out of the Task Master and worries the hood greatly.

Siege #1 looks great. The U-Foes blow up a Bears/Browns game huh? I wonder where the SRA will stand after this is all said and done? I have a feeling that all of the regular citizens of the Marvel U will start to hate regular costumed heroes as much as they do mutants.

Thor kills Sentry? How? I mean I love Thor more than Sentry but no way could he kill Sentry, unless he starts crying and doesn't fight back at all

Good Riddance!:woot:

I guess this was the death of an Avenger they teased for Siege #2?

The next two hours really need to move along so I can get to my shop and pick this stuff up. :argh:

Michael Bendis joins CBR to provide page by page commentary on "Siege: The Cabal," the one-shot special by him and artist Michael Lark, which sets the stage for Norman Osborn's war against Asgard.

"Siege" #1 is in the can, and I believe it's at the printer, so it's going to ship on time. What you have to look forward to, and I think people will be a little startled by, is that "Siege" is four tight issues; a lot happens, very quickly. I think people will be surprised by how much happens right away and who it happens to.

With "Siege," you're witnessing a story that sets up a status quo for the Avengers books, and by the nature of the Avengers books, the mainstream Marvel Universe is quite different than it used to be. So it's a very exciting time, and with "Siege" #1, you get in right on the ground floor to see how it all unfolds.
