Siege

Odin can stay dead for all I care. :o
No. There's just no need for him to be around in the Marvel Universe anymore.
I completely agree. Odin's time is done. It's time for the next generation to take over, make their own mistakes, and live with the consequences. No more Odin resets or Odin secretly pulling everyone's strings or what have you. Let the other Asgardians grow up already.

As for the kids' one-shots, I'll probably pick up both. I don't usually read Secret Warriors because it only interests me when Phobos and/or Fury are front and center, but the one-shot promises both will have big roles. And I'm always up for whatever Young Avengers bone Marvel wants to throw me. Examining Billy's original name and why he chose to emulate Thor sounds particularly interesting, too.

Hey question: Why the hell does Norman's face look like that and what was with the "Toldja So"s?

Yeah, it was some kind of crazy-dude war paint. Destroying Asgard while the nation watched, captivated at his heroism, was supposed to be his masterpiece, basically. It would've effectively made him untouchable. So I guess he decided to celebrate that privately by embracing his inner Goblin in the form of green and purple makeup under his helmet. Like I said, he's crazy.

I took the Toldja So's to mean that Cap's team wouldn't need any back up. If you read Maria Hill's texts, she asks to call and have the X-Men and FF on standby ready to jump in the fray. I just read it as "See, I toldja Cap wouldn't need any help." Was there really any doubt to the Marvel heroes that Osborn was a nut? Could go either way, though. They both work.

I doubt that the other heroes didn't think Cap needed backup. Sentry just blew a second hole through Asgard completely destroying it. Now he's sitting in the sky looking completely unstoppable. They would think Cap wouldn't give up fighting, but that doesn't mean he couldn't use another 15 super heroes to show up and help.

Johnny and Wolverine both said in their respective books somewhere since Dark Reign that Normans going to eventually snap anyway, so they should really just stay out of it. Pretty sure Wolverine said it during the Utopia cross over.

Any hero that says, "Oh, that guy's in charge? We all know he's crazy, this'll work itself out", needs to be b**ch slapped upside his head.

Nope. At one point Norman is yelling for him to do something, but he's never shown.

Also, [blackout]Sentry confirmed to be infected by Carnage when he ripped the symbiote apart way back when[/blackout] :awesome:

that would be pretty cool, it looks more like it in the new thunderbolts but it would be interesting twist. so we know bendis isn't gonna do it

The scary thing is, that all the groundwork for it to be true is already in place. Normans been working with the symbiote to manipulate and control it (Venom), Carnage was one of the first villains that Bendis killed off at the start of his whole "im going to completely revamp the entire marvel universe" cruade and only fitting that he be the "final boss" of it all. There's already two big spidey villans (three, sorta) as main stays in Norman and Gargan / Venom, then theres the artwork. His forms just SCREAM symbiote.

You know, it's pretty damn refreshing to have an event that's only 4 issues and damn straight forward. You don't have several issues establishing the villain, and then throw in a bunch of demi-villains (I'm looking at you Spectra and Anti-Monitor). Sure, Norman Osborn isn't the big bad in the end, but ****, how hard is it really to take down a guy in Iron Man armor?

I really enjoyed this latest issue of Siege. I've largely enjoyed what I've read of Dark Reign, and Norman Osborn was a brilliant villain throughout 2009, but it still felt incredibly satisfying for his house of cards to all come tumbling down here.

I really like how they've set up this final battle against The Void for the final issue. Some have felt that, as Norman's "secret weapon", he's a bit of a disappointment, but I think he's actually the perfect Big Bad for this event. More than anybody, The Sentry has probably best personified the post-Disassembled Bendis era of Marvel, with its bleakness and ineffectual heroes. If there's any demon Bendis needs to exorcise before helping to lead Marvel into this brighter, more optimistic Age of Heroes, it's him. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this fight with The Void pans out.

I can't forget to mention the book's greatest asset: Olivier Coipel's STUNNING art. It's beautiful stuff, and seeing his work here reminds me of how much I miss him on Thor, perhaps even more than Straczynski. He could be one of the best artists working right now.

I'm hoping to see some Loki action in Siege #4. And in the meantime, I'll have to content myself with Siege: Loki next month.

I think hate is to soft a word i remember reading in wizard he despised the character and felt insulted when everyone was buying books with him

Much as I feel about books written by Brian Bendis.

I'm not the biggest Bendis fan, or even moderately close, but...

Say what you will about Bendis and his many failures and problems - Siege #3 is pretty damn good. Siege overall has been pretty damn good.

So was Sentry Osborn's enforcer against the Cabal? I haven't been keeping track with this stuff. And is Lt. Gaeta a.k.a. Ms. Hand dead yet?

Yes, Osborns enforcer was the Void.

Does anyone know what the Siege read order is?

I know that the Dark Avengers and New Avengers issues take place before SIEGE #1. So do the Thor tie ins. Might Avengers has two tie-ins that don't seem to have much to do with SIEGE at all. Avengers:The Initiative seems to be running concurrent as the SIEGE issues, as does Dark Wolverine.

Thanks. So is Lt. Gaeta a.k.a. Ms. Hand dead yet?

No, but the HAMMER helicarrier she was on was blown up by the US Government and was crashing to the ground. She was last seen in SIEGE #3 yelling the order to abandon ship. Her fate is unclear at this point.

Pretty damn hard if the pilot is Tony Stark. :cwink:

Probably my favorite part of the issue. I loved finally seeing a government-type embrace the heroes, recognize that they do fine work all on their own, and actually support them instead of getting in their way. I think that, to me, is the spiritual start of the Heroic Age.
