Silly or Obtuse: Which is the worse insult on The Hype?

We are all such sensitive souls here on the hype. Call us biased. Call us crazy. Call us dumb... But dear God in heaven don't you dare say our opinions are silly or obtuse!

So, of the two which is worse for a certain type of Hypester to hear from another in regards to their opinion? Lord knows I have seen some pretty insane reactions to using the word obtuse but silly also gets peoples' Irish up for the reason that we all take our opinions very seriously here. So... What's your take? Or... Am I just being silly and obtuse? t:

Yeah but being called wrong is par for the course, and not nearly as dismissive to some I think. Saying you think someone's opinion is "silly" seems to really rile posters up. Obtuse as well. It's like an extra creamy topping to add onto a Wrong Sundae when you tell someone that. It's a bit shaded beyond just "I disagree and think you are incorrect".

"Obtuse" has a slightly more negative connotation to it.

But you make a valid point about the Hype being home to many sensitive souls. I've seen countless overreactions to statements that really shouldn't have set off the land mine like they did.

I've seen "obtuse" put some into overdrive, but there's offense at 'silly' too. Like, the reaction is, "I can't believe that you don't take my opinion on techno-babble issue from long running sci fi franchise seriously, after all the thought I have put into it since I was in middle school."

That's an excellent way to describe some of the threads that have exploded like Michael Bay test footage with the inevitable assertion of "you aren't respecting me!".

Eh, to be fair Street Fighter is a terrible movie but it's a fun terrible movie. That makes it special. It doesn't take a lot of ****ing up to make a bad movie but you need something special to make it fun at the same time.

I love my terrible fun movies. I have a lot of them including ones from Asylum which were added for no other reason than they were terrible and I enjoyed them.
