Since the Economy is in the crapper...what are some of the things that you have had to change in your life to adjust for this, if anything.

I can't wait until the recession. :o Hadn't had to have any big changes so far but I am scrounging to use every last penny I can find before touching my s**t in the bank.

I've had to adjust my pension and RRSP's, but I have been mainly unaffected.

Instead of buying a Samsung 8 Series LCD TV, I'm going with a 6 Series. LOL.

Seriously, I've had to give up going to movies and going out to eat (that will change with 007 this Saturday). I've also been selling plasma twice a week, so the extra cash goes to gas and other weekend expenses. That leaves the bigger checks for bills.

What a depressing thread :csad:

Pretty what's been happening

- Had to switch my major to a career that is currently in demand
- Go back to living with my parents
- Lost my job
- Haven't been able to find work
- Switch back to relying on Student Loans

Times are definitely hard.

i've had to change...nothing...

i pay the same rent, the same amount for food, the fuel prices are coming down now so thats ok...i can still buy toys and comics...

so i've had to change nothing:woot:

I haven't changed much of anything so far.

Well we have cut back on eating out and going to the movies. We are going to have to cut back on our cable for now too even though I don't want to we have too. I am just glad I still have high speed internet to download movies. I just watched the new 007 movie last night. I also have a new job that even though it is a pay cut, it is closer to home now so I am not spending as much on gas any more. I was driving an hour and a half every day for work to the Sears that fired me, now I am just 15 minutes from work.

I've changed nothing. My IRA has gone down some, but who's hasn't.

I dont do much movies anymore, and most of my friends live kinda far so I dont see them much cause its a ***** to drive and waste gas, on hanging out in parking lots and taco bell every other night.

The wife and I haven't cut back on anything. We did switch from Comcast to Verizon FIOS tv, but we've been wanting to do that for a while now. I still buy my comics, statues and dvd's.

I've changed nothing too. I was poor before the economy went into its downward spiral, so it didn't really affect me.

Yet...

Well, I have more time to practice my golf given I am less busy at work.

I haven't been going to the movies lately, buying dvds, eating out, etc...

Not much. We never lived beyond our means anyway. All I really did was trade in my Dodge Durango for a Honda CRV in anticipation of higher gas prices(and then they went and lowered). But we made money from our house that we sold, and we bought a house well within our means to maintain and still be able to enjoy life.

Budgeting is your friend.

Where's your new job RD?

I start at Target tomorrow. It is a little bit aof a pay cut, but the pay cut is the same as what I spent in gas on the last job, so it is sort of a wash. I am looking forward to getting back to work and out of the house.

Well, since the crappy economy hasn't affected my job, nothing's changed. However, I do my best to live within my means anyway. Don't eat out much, if I go out with friends to a bar, I'll usually walk or take the el instead of a cab, only drive when I need to, if cash is tight, I'll stop buying comics for a while, hardly ever buy DVDs and only use Netflix for a month at a time, watch all the movies I want then put the account on hold for a few months.

Well if gas keeps falling I won't have to do a damn thing. $1.96 right around the corner. Just keep falling...........

The economy affected my job big time. No more OT as of right now and begining Jan 1st, we're getting a pay cut. Me, I'm getting $1.75 off my my hourly pay with absolutly no OT.

So far, I wasn't able to buy Gears of War 2, gonna have to wait until the prices go down or sell a lot of my old movies and games if I want that game.

Not going to be going out to eat, movies or out with my friends, except for my friends B-day party next month.

I'm going to have to see the Couture/Lesnar fight at a bar or Hooters, can;t afford to buy it.

So yeah this crap economy has affected me a bit. :csad::cmad:

My life has not been affected in any negative way whatsoever. My pay has actually gone UP over the past several months, gas is down, my mortgage is paid. I'm buying a second car, and I am enjoying more cultural events and activities than I normally do.

By the way, a recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth. Has that actually happened yet? Maybe I'm so busy working and living my life that I havent stopped to wring my hands over how horrible things are for people like me.

I've been cutting back on the eating out....being a bit more mindful of what I buy at groceries

Nothing at all, im not affected in the slightest.

I haven't really bought any dvds as of late. and if i do there like 5 dollars or less. Plus i don't get take out as much anymore and get more food from the grocery store instead. Cause its about the same but get more food that lasts longer.
