I've been plugging this site in my signature for some time, but I figured it deserved its own thread.

Smart Voter is a nonpartisan & nonprofit website (apparently created by the League of Women Voters) used to inform voters about what's on their local ballots. While I'm sure quite a few of you have already made up your minds about who you want to be president, Smart Voter helps you choose everything on your ballot, right down to who's running for city council.

If Smart Voter can obtain the information, they'll list the key points of a candidate's platform for you, and even give you a link to their website. They'll tell you just about everyone running for office, even the candidates whose names you'd have to write in.

What I like most about this website, however, is that it lists all of your propositions for you. There they are, all of my state props and city measures, all laid out. Don't know what your propositions mean because of 12,000 TV commercials using pictures of scared children and everyday adults to tell you to vote both ways? Smart Voter tells you all of the prop's details, breaks it down into simple terms for you, then tells you the arguments for and against it.

To top it all off, they tell you the address of the nearest place to vote.

Here's their sample ballot.
