Alright, hopefully this pic posts here like I wanted it to.

Believe it or not, this is actually NOT supposed to be a Hulk comic. And to top it off it's drawn by Liefeld (notorious for bad art, though not doing a bad Hulk, I mean "Smash" here oddly enough) and written by Loeb (notorious for crapping on power level continuity and story continuity).

This is sure to be a gem. I think I'll read the first issue for a laugh if nothing else.

Now it's just a matter of how long it takes for Marvel to shut this blatant trademark infringement down lol

Note: I know someone's probably thinking this shouldn't be in the Marvel thread, but c'mon, this is clearly the Hulk

Seriously? Not a single person thinks this is worth commenting on?

Leifeld and Loeb join forces to make a complete Hulk ripoff and no one sees this as worth a word or two?

Seems like a dumb idea, and I won't read it, it'll be entertaining to see how far Marvel is willing to punish this.

I just found this explanation on another set of boards. It sounds plausible.

Here's the deal:

In 1996, Marvel hired Rob & Jim Lee to do Heroes Reborn, where Rob/Extreme got Cap & Avengers & Jim/Wildstorm got FF & Iron Man. All 4 books' sales quadrupled. Midway thru, Marvel went thru a regime change. The new management told Rob & Jim that they were renegotiating their contracts, paying them about half of the money of the original contract & taking away a lot of the creative control. Rob opted out, Jim accepted and took on all 4 books, but Jim himself didn't do anymore of the books himself. Rob & Jeph Loeb decided that they wanted to finish their Captain America story, so Agent America & Smash were created. Lawsuits flew over Agent America, so Rob then approached Simon & Kirby, and bought (rented) the rights to Fighting American, and they finished their Cap story using Fighting American & Smash.

So yes, they were both obvious fill ins for the Marvel characters, but now you know why.

I'm gonna bump this one more time in the hopes that SOMEBODY else finds this as appalling/amazing a piece of news as me.

Wait, is that Rulk? Geez at least try to cover it up a little bit.

Leifeild "If I put chains on him no one will notice the similarities, it worked for Spawn"

To anybody who even thinks about buying this book, remember this:

Every time you encourage Rob Liefeld or Jeph Loeb, the terrorists win.

Anything that keeps Liefield and Loeb occupied with their own ****, and away from comics that people actually care about, is fine with me.

I know that Smash is an obvious rip off of Hulk, but there was another Image character (later Full Bleed Studios) created by Dale Keown (artist of Hulk) called PITT. I loved this character in the 90s, but many called him a rip off of Hulk in the 90s.

DC also had a mockery of the Hulk done in the Superman/Batman: Vengeance miniseries.

Moved this to the appropriate forum.

Pretty brazen on Liefeld's part. From what I can tell, Smash doesn't even have a slightly unique hook to him, unlike many of the other Hulk rip-offs.

It's Krunk from the Justice Friends!
DC totally needs to publish a Justice Friends comic. The best parody in those cartoons was Val Hallan: Norse God of Rock.

Pitt is my fav character from Image. I've got every issue of Pitt and, aside from a bad conclusion, the whole series is friggin awesome

Kind of seems like this is supposed to be a blatant rip-off. Maybe even a parody of Marvel or something (not that that makes it OK) but the names of some of the stories: ‘Smash! Youngblood’, ‘Smash! Supreme’ and ‘SMASH ASSEMBLED’, all Marvelish story names. I’ve never heard of any of this stuff, so I dunno if it’s suppose to be a joke or flat out plagiarism. Either way, it certainly seems like a joke. If it’s suppose to be taken seriously… then wow, Loeb is worse than I thought.

Me too, I'm a big fan of PITT. I was never able to finish collecting all the issues of this comic because the issues came out so late and sporadically.

So the comics actually concluded?
