Smoking Section: A Discussion

he granted the FDA a bit more authority and the FDA is the one that made the changes, so get mad at the FDA...they've been carrying out a crusade against the tobacco industry for years...it's just become a bit louder now

Obama doesn't know what the definition of the word FREEDOM is.

As much as "personally" I'm for this......it does look like that Obama is opening the door to slowly taking personal rights away....

I could say that this is taking away something that is killing alot of people....BUT, I'm afraid if I do that, he's going to go after my car next.....

It is their choice. You have a choice to what ever food you eat, or beverage you drink. You have a choice to excerise. That is called Freedom. You have a choice if you take a plant, dry it and smoke it. It's your choice. It's your choice to take that plant and put sugar on it and smoke it. Just because people "die" from it, it shouldn't make it illegal, even if there is NO statisical evidence that smoking tobacco kill people. The Government's own Data has been proven to be fraudulent!

yeah, because smoking DOESN'T cause lung cancer or cancer in the throat or mouth....

I smoke... but do not for one minute tell me it doesn't kill anyone, because it does... go ask my Grandma... oh wait, she died of Lung Cancer from smoking for 40 years.... so you can't.... or her brother... of wait, throat cancer killed him from smoking a pipe all his life...

I don't smoke, but my grandmother died near the age of 100, she smoked her entire life.

well, good for her... I'm not saying it kills everyone... but smoking will bring about lung cancer in people... I think some people are more prone to developing it quicker... whereas others, may not get it at all in their lifespan...

My grandpa smoked for 20 years.... didn't get cancer, but had emphazema for the last ten years of his life, and needs oxygen on a regular basis

She died of a heart attack too (no cancer). I just think she is a genetic freak :o

some people are... but there's no denying the dangers of smoking... and the ingredients put inside that are scietificaly proven to cause cancer....

smoking a pack a day, is like putting 5 bullets in a 6 shooter and playing russian roullet..... is everyone going to die of it... no, but your chances of dieing early from some pretty wicked cancer just skyrocketed way up...

but, I'm not for banning anything like that... I'm for the legalization of weed too!!!

It's our choice....

Honestly I think all this ban is going to do is create an underground market, and get kids to go through those avenues (becomes a gateway thing too ironically).

Yes, and the feds ARE NOT going around arresting people if their diet doesn't follow what is suggested by the food pyramid: be it servings of different types of food or a diet that has more daily calories than suggested, nor is anyone arrested for drinking pop all day. Also, there are no arrests if someone does not exercise. As for alcohol, depending on where one resides, there are local laws regarding passengers with open containers of alcohol, laws regarding drinking in the street, and then there's the laws that prohibit drunk driving with the stiff penalties, and the laws that prohibit underage drinking and the penalties for those who do engage in it if caught, and those adults that allowed to happen on their property.

As for your suggestion that smoking "does not kill", please offer evidence.

SuBe,
I know this is off topic, but I'm interested in your opinion of the new nicotine delivery systems such as the Blu or the NJoy, both in regard to a preference and the contrast in "danger" versus actual tobacco products. (It's always seemed reasonable to me that it's the "extra" gunk (tar and such) in the smokes that's causing health issues and these systems remove those from the equation.)

I've given it all up, and don't have a mind to start again, but I'm curious about your thoughts on the matter given your unique placement in the industry.

I guess you have never heard of those people that never smoked a day in their life and never has been around smokers getting and dieing of lung cancer. Yeah, they don't exist.

because smoking CAUSES lung cancer.. it's no the only cause of lung cancer....

Candles have been known to cause them too.... your logic is way off here buddy.... plus, you work in the tabboco industry, so really, you are not going to have a open, unbiased opinion now are you?

That doesn't change the fact that some smokers do get lung cancer and die from it.

his evidence was that people get lung cancer from other things as well???

yeah, I was seriously like  when I read that....

No one said smoking is the ONLY cause of lung cancer. :whatever:

But suggesting there is no connection between smoking and cancer is just flat-out dishonest.

I agree. I remember back in the day when I was a youngster growing up in a small rural community, we occasionally had a party where there was some underage drinking. Then a new police chief was named and he promised to end it all. And he did. Closed off the creeks where we'd go and arrested anyone that seemed to have been close to a beer. Suddenly in about 18 months the school was full of stoners. This was unprecedented. When I graduated you were pretty much an outcast if you dabbled in such things but by the time my brother's class made it out it was almost the norm and they continue (many years later) to have a drug problem in that school and in these many years it's progressed way beyond just weed.

Let's ban candles? Has anyone that has died from Cancer who was a smoker never been around candles?

those are all second hand smoking articles... and I think one about "passive" smoking... which probably means, one smoke every couple weeks on average...

none were about actuall smokers

saying that smoking doesn't cause cancer is like saying the earth is flat

where did I say ban... I'm just saying other things cause cancer too... even in teh lungs... but you CAN NOT deny the overhwhelming imperical evidence that smoking causes cancer....

I'm ****, this is like 2 plus 2 equals 4 stuff....

and like I said, you are going to be biased... you work for a tabboco company...
