‘Sneaky Pete’ Drama From Bryan Cranston & David Shore Gets Big CBS Commitment
by Nellie Andreeva

In what could be the last big sale this development season, CBS has given a production commitment to Sneaky Pete, a drama written and executive produced by Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston and House creator David Shore. The project hails from Sony Pictures TV, where Cranston has a first-look deal and Shore is under an overall pact. I hear it was the studio who got the two together. (Cranston and Shore are already linked through Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, also based at Sony TV, who is executive producing the upcoming CBS series Battle Creek with Shore.)

Sneaky Pete centers on a thirty-something con man who, upon leaving prison, takes cover from his darker past by assuming the identity of a cellmate. “Sneaky Pete” hides out from the mob while working for the cellmate family’s bail bond business, taking down criminals worse than himself. Over time, he discovers a family life he’s never had, and possibly true love with a woman who sees through his BS.

Cranston and Shore executive produce. James Degus of Cranston’s Moon Shot Entertainment may also executive produce, while Erin Gunn of Shore’s Shore Z will co-executive produce.

This marks Emmy winner Cranston’s second sale in his first year as a Sony TV-based producer. He also has comedy Dangerous Book For Boys, based on Conn and Hal Iggulden’s guidebook, which landed at NBC in a very competitive situation with a significant penalty and a premium license fee. It is the first pilot script sale for UTA-repped Cranston who wrote and directed the 1999 film Last Chance. Shore is with ICM Partners and the Shuman Co.
Wonder if Cranston might direct the pilot.

Here's hoping for a Skinny Pete cameo!

Margo Martindale Joins Bryan Cranston-David Shore CBS Drama Pilot ‘Sneaky Pete’
by Nellie Andreeva

The Millers‘ Margo Martindale is returning to CBS with a co-starring role in drama pilot Sneaky Pete, written and executive produced by Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston and House creator David Shore for Sony TV. This also marks a return to the drama side for Martindale, who won an Emmy for role in FX’s Justified, also produced by Sony.

Sneaky Pete centers on a thirty-something con man who, upon leaving prison, takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of a cellmate. “Sneaky Pete” then hides out from his debtors while working for his new “family’s” bail bond business. There he uses his considerable charm and criminal prowess to take down bad guys far worse than himself, partnering with a very attractive female “cousin” who has her suspicions about his real motives. Gersh-repped Martindale will play Audrey, who with her husband is trying to keep the family bail bond business afloat when Pete shows up on their door step.

So just spent the last month or so watching all 3 seasons of this. Enjoyed it. Saw that it's not coming back for more, but that's fine. Though they probably didn't plan it that way, the season 3 finale makes a good series finale.
