....and she isn't playing Mariah Dillard, for me this is final confirmation that it is in fact not "all connected".

Actress Alfre Woodard is making her presence felt in the Marvel Universe in more ways than one this year.
The actress will be playing the role of Mariah Dillard on Netflix's upcoming Luke Cage series, which drops in September, but she's also been cast in Captain America: Civil War, though that took place before the Luke Cage casting.
According to sources (via Screen Crush), the talented Woodard will be playing a much smaller yet no less important role in Civil War,
as she will act as one of the core reasons that Tony sides with the government's new policy. She's the mother of an American citizen who perished during Ultron's attempted destruction of Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She blames Tony for that on some level, and whether fair or not it hits a nerve with him, leading him to choose the side of pro registration.
In many ways, it mirrors the justification that Batman held in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. I guess we'll just have to wait till May 6th to see if it really is enough to justify Tony's side.

It isn't the first time and it won't be the last, it doesn't change anything.

It even happens between movies.

Laura Haddock, the mom of Star Lord in GOTG was playing somebody different in Captain America.

Enver Gjokaj, Agent Souza from Agent Carter was playing a random cops in Avengers.

Matt Gerald, Melvin Potter in Daredevil was playing somebody else, White Power Daven in the One shot, All hail the King.

Tony Currann, the Irish gangster's boss in DD S2 was playing Bor in Thor 2.

And she was casted in Civil War before Luke Cage so blaming the movies guy make no sense

Seems to me like you had already decided that "it's not connected".

It's connected. It's the same universe. It's the same continuity. No matter how many posts you and 10.000 other people write this won't change. The MCU is singular and shared. Is it only movie to tv? Yes, but this is still a CONNECTION. You do understand the meaning of the word right?

Ok, there is no need for this thread lol about the role being different.

And Jeight said it best!

So... Miriam Sharpe?

It IS connected. An actor playing two people is not any worse than two actors playing one.

Miriam and Mariah, theyre sisters. CASE CLOSED! :)

This. She's only in 1 scene in CW, her character in the movie is not that big a role...I wouldn't be surprised if it was unnamed even...but even then it's not like it's never happened in the MCU before and most people are not going to notice, and even then some fans are just going to have a headcanon that they're related or that they actually are the same (if the CW character doesn't have a different name) or something. XD

I hope there will be a way to No-Prize this so it makes more sense.

Enygma, what would´ve been your solution if you were in charge? Would you have passed the opportunity to have an Oscar nominee as the main villain in Luke Cage if she also tested as the best fit for the character, just because she was already in a few minutes of another movie? Would you then cast someone else as Mariah?
