Because Knightfall is of the mindset that this MJ stuff is all he said she said stuff made up by the media and it's the same thing with why people don't like Trump. Claiming that he had repressed the sexual abuse from Jackson for years but miraculously remembers them a few years after Michael's death(when he's not around to defend himself, go figure) and he is coincidentally broke and his dance career has stalled. Hmmm.. What will bring attention to him quickly? Oh! I know!! Let's call on the relationship that I had with the biggest star the world has ever known and claim I was sexually assaulted, that will bring the spotlight because good news doesn't sell!

What if their lawyer advised them to take the money because such charges are hard to prove? I do like how Jackson wanted to fight but his lawyers wouldn't let him is logical to you, but not the other way around. Especially considering who had the money to pay for a truck full of lawyers.

Lots of victims take a payoff. In civil and criminal cases. Doesnt mean there wasnt a crime committed and that the defendant wasn't guilty. Deals and payoffs are the most common end to criminal and civil disputes. Sad fact is that the court costs, lawyer costs, and the time required to have a full blown trial make a trial impractical for a lot of americans. Which is why the defense usually pushes for a payout. They know that many victims will take the money just to put an end to the expensive time consuming circus.

The catholic church and a lot of other guilty parties have paid out millions to victims of various crimes.
