I know this is looking far ahead in the future, but with this reboot my mind is racing about so many things.

Do you think they're gonna kill Gwen Stacy? I don't think they'll kill her in the first movie, but maybe in a possible sequel?

I'm also wondering about the Green Goblin's outfit when (and if) he makes his appearance. We've had the sci-fi techy version in the first movie. Do you think they'll stick to his comic book outfit this time, with the purple parts? I'd love that personally.

Anyway, I don't like everything I've heard about this reboot, but it does open a ton of new possibilities. Villains who have previously been ruined (Venom) can get another chance. I just hope they don't ruin it again.

I think in a sequel they will kill her off. I suspect the 2nd film

I definitely think they'll kill her off. Maybe in part 2.

Regarding Green Goblin, I have a feeling he'll look dark and scary! Kinda like the Alex Ross design of Green Goblin for the first movie.

I hope so. It would add a great deal of weight to the entire series. Kind of like Rachel's death in The Dark Knight but even more powerful.

I thought Gwen was going to die in SM3 in the photo shoot scene when he grabbed her last minute TBH. To kill her off in the first movie wouldn't be as effective. Nobody cares about people who die in trilogies unless they've been a constant character throughout. IMO anyways. It just makes more sense to establish the character as a main role by putting her in at least the second movie, if not the third, and then killing her off. IMO, the perfect scenario would be to have her in the first movie, alive. Have MJ introduced towards the second half of TASM2. Have Gwen die early on during TASM3 and then have him get with MJ halfway through ending it with MJ. Thoughts?

Yeah, definitely. Ever since I read the comic I always wanted to see it in motion. The Animated Series came close (amazing voice work on Spider-Man's part), but censorship ruined the impact.

But if they're gonna do this, they really need to do it well. It's something they can't screw up.

The only problem I can see is that it may look too much like the bridge scene from the first Spider-Man (by Raimi). But hopefully that won't be any problem if this reboot whipes the floor with the previous trilogy.

Personally, I never really cared for the character of Rachel. She seemed just thrown in there.

Maybe have her become this big part of Peter's life in the first movie. Then in the second one, have her as his girlfriend, maybe still unaware that Pete is actually Spider-Man, blaming him for Cap Stacy's death. Have MJ introduced at the end of the second movie, maybe with the line "Face it, tiger! You just hit the jackpot"

Then have the whole "the night Gwen Stacy died" as the plot for the third movie. That would be perfect. At least it's perfect inside my troubled mind. =D

ASm1 - establish Pete and Gwen's relationship, kill Capt Stacey

ASm2 - Show the pressure/strength of Pete and Gwen's relationship by how they're both dealing with Capt Stacey's death, and Pete's hidden guilt/mulling over telling Gwen his secret. Make things look like they're getting better, then kill Gwen in the 2nd or 3rd act

ASM3 - introduce MJ; have them together by the end of the flick

I think they could use the top of a building to differentiate, I wouldn't mind.

Nah, it has to be a bridge. The fact that Spider-man doesn't save the girl this time around is enough to differentiate.

Bring Green Goblin in the final movie, kill her off, and then have an epic battle as Spider-Man lashes out on him

It be great if they did. Its one of the most emotional scenes in comic book history.

But would sony and webb have the balls to go through with it? I mean shes a teenager and lots of kids watch spiderman and there will be an uproar. Also the whole thing of spiderman's webline breaking her neck could be very very risky indeed.

I think they should do it but I think sony might be a little cautious.

^^ Cautious or ont, I really think it's happening at some point. It's something that, ni the comics, changed and haunted Peter's life forever.

If done properly it could be one of the most heart-wrenching scenes in a movie EVER. Its not just that he failed to save her but that he might have accidentally caused her death makes it so shattering. I imagine it would be a great scene for Garfield to show off his chops.

I personally don't really care for those kids lol. I think (and hope) that Sony wants to make a more mature and darkerer version this time around.

Anyhow, this has to come on the big screen, it's one of the most famous moments in comic book history. (Btw, out of curiosity, who of you guys own ASM #121? I do :p)

Well, they did say they wanted to make a "grittier" version of Spider-Man this time around, which I think is also sort of reflected in the photos we've seen so far (particularly the one with Spider-Man in the alley).

Let's hope they live up to that.

The Second movie would be perfect.

ASM1: Peter and Gwen get together. Later on, Cpt. Stacy is offed by the Lizard. Peter feels lots of guilt, sad ending.

ASM2: Peter is still full of guilt from what happened with Stacy, and considers telling her he is Spider-Man. GG comes in, stirs up ****, kills Gwen in the end. Introduce MJ at one point in this movie to set up for the third

ASM3: MJ and Peter get together. Cue Electro. End with a bang, end trilogy.

If this franchise does not touch this storyline, it would be the worst thing Sony has ever done to Spider-Man IMO. The amount of potential this series has by incorporating this story arc is tremendous and to throw all of that into the trash would be a damn shame.

I don't see why they wouldn't add it into this new series though. It is a great story, would be memorable, and give the film an emotional drive. They will use it, I'm positive.

They've set up the universe for this storyline, it would be nice to use it. Especially since it's a fan favorite and marks a turning point in Spider-Man's life. Killing her in the second would open the audience to post-gwen-spidey in the third.

Here's something I've been pondering on the subject though...should Spider-Man kill GG? I mean in the 70's the whole "living is punishment enough" thing worked. But by today's standards, if Spidey was real, I'm sure he would kill GG. What do you think? I think it would be cool, but not very Spider-Man. I'm torn in that respect.

I don't think Spider-Man should kill. To quote Aunt May from Spidey 3, "Spider-Man doesn't kill people".

However, if they're going to do this they will have to make Spider-Man go all out at the Goblin, maybe even more then in the comic. But ultimately I think the Goblin should either die by his own mistakes, or change into something different. Like in the comics, the Goblin loses his memory and he becomes Norman for a while. Personally I'd be in favor of that, but I don't know. Spider-Man could kill the Goblin in a fit of rage. It depends how far they want to take this dark tone.
