I'll never understand wanting to see a movie for the first time on an IMAX screen...your eyes have to pull double duty to comb over the screen, which is already WAY too close...

Why would you want to do that to, at the very least, your FIRST viewing of the film? IMO, seeing a movie in IMAX doesn't really do justice to the piece as a visual whole.

That's why I'll be taking in "TDK" as a whole, the way it's meant to...in a Regular Theatre.

QFT :o

I think Pfister was just giddy...because if he had a do-over, he might realize that seeing the film in IMAX doesn't do justice to his own cinematography as a whole.

Go see it in IMAX...AFTER you've actually seen the film the way it needs to be seen. That way when you're watching in IMAX and your eyes are having to shift like crazy and (god forbid) you miss something...it won't nearly matter as much.

Because to see it the first time...would you wanna risk missing something in the frame, even the smallest thing? This is a brand new Batman movie...a brand new Batman movie I wanna watch...not catch glimpses of while I'm doing eye-exercises to try and catch everything y'know?

I hear what you're saying - it makes sense.
I will be seeing the movie multiple times, it'll just be IMAX first time thru.
I'll live. :yay:

Seriously, I hate IMAX. The screen is just too big. I find myself having to move my eyes side to side way too much. The thing is, everyone loves IMAX, so I had to get those tickets. I hate my peers. Oh well, I guess I'll just have us sit close to the back.

It's not the size of the screen that counts, it's how close the audience sits to the screen. Hollywood films that have gone through the IMAX DMR process look great, but are not shot or edited with IMAX theatres in mind. With TDK, the IMAX format was considered before they began shooting. Everything I have heard so far about the film, Everything I have seen from the film tells me It's going to be spectacular on IMAX screens. They have talked about editing shots slower and framing shots for the big screen. There is a lot more to a great presentation in IMAX than just a big screen. This hasn't been done before... I hope they do it again!

Wow....why all the IMAX hate? Some of you obviously haven't been to the new IMAX screens being attached to old Cineplex's...I think some people think that its the dome....but you are qfw....some of you. My Imax screen...while large...is also one of the most comfortable auditoriums in the theater....brand new seats, nicely spaced apart so your not elbow to elbow...its like your own chair. But as long as your not in the front...you'll be able to see everything...just like the largest screen at your local cinema...but the sound...thats a big deal for me...and the IMAX auditorium BLASTS IT! I would prefer to see every movie on IMAX if they were all screened there. So...do some research at an IMAX nearest you...if its the dome...or one of the old Ride-Like IMAX's like in Vegas...stay away...its not the real IMAX Experience.

I got tickets for Friday afternoon, IMAX. It is in the same theater that I saw "I am Legend" and the prologue. I thought it was awesome, I had no trouble seeing everything. I sit pretty close too. It is a pretty new theater, so maybe since it is a large screen but not curved it is appropriate for non-Discovery-channel type IMAX movies.

Well, when I saw I Am Legend back in December, the expierence was much better then when I saw it the 2 other times in normal AMC theaters. I guess it matters who you are. Im still a teenager, so I still go by the ol' "the bigger and louder, the better" theory when it comes to entertainment. I can understand how someone who is older then me, might not find it so enjoyable.

why it gotta be about age yo:hehe:

if Imax screens showing movies like this were around when I was a teen i wouldn't have had it any other way...so I'm with ya there...but some of these people think that the Imax screens showing movies lately like tdk are the dome shaped screens like you see at museums on a class field trip. I have no idea why someone wouldn't want to see it in imax. :o

the screen is huge, the seats are comfy and the sound is never bad...and too loud isn't a problem for me...the louder the better. Amc screens are unpredictable when it comes to sound...so whenever i go i have to request 1 of the two larger auditoriums and pray that the movie is being shown on the digital screen...otherwise i won't go if its my first viewing.

IMAX baby!!

Nolan wants to present his film epic on the largest canvas possible...he wants the viewer to be immersed in his Gotham. That's what I intend to do at midnight the 17/18th.

IMAX.

I'm honestly bumping into more and more people who are seeing it in IMAX immediately, they should start running it longer hours of the day I think at this rate.

Who holds (or is currently holding) the IMAX record, Superman?

They are running longer hours at many IMAX theaters... Chicago's Navy Pier IMAX is going to run for 72 hours straight. Many are adding 3 AM shows...

I don't know for sure, but I would guess that Fantasia 2000 or The Polar Express 3D might be the biggest Hollywood releases to date. F2000 was huge when it played exclusively in IMAX theaters.

First showing at a regular theater and then hopefully go to an IMAX when I go to Comic Con.

Oh yeah noticed that in NYC and Chicago, but I meant they might need that in OTHER cities (ie. mine). :)

not close to an IMAX (I wish) so it's gonna be 2x through in a regular

I'm seeing it first at a regular theater and then seeing it in IMAX since I've never seen a movie in IMAX I want TDK to be that first movie experience.

And then I'll buy a bootleg copy.........hey going to the movies in expensive nowadays!

Midnight IMAX in New Roc (which just sold out!) ... If any of you are going there as well PM me and we can meet up n stuff

I'm seeing it twice on opening day

Once @ noon on IMAX format
