World So I have to ask...Superman Returns or Tim Burton's Superman Lives ? ? ?

Now that Superman Returns is all said and done, would you prefer:

a) Bryan Singer's Superman Returns

b) Forget Singer's Superman Returns and would rather have Tim Burton's 1998 Superman with Nic Cage as Superman, Sandra Bullock as Lois, Chris Rock as Olsen, Tim Allen as Brainac, and Jack Nicolson or Kevin Spacey for Lex Luthor.

I liked Superman Returns, thought it could have been way better though. But I'm reading a ton of stuff on Kevin Smith / Tim Burton's Superman Lives and it's interesting. It could have been such a bad film, or it could have produced a cult following the way Batman Returns did.

Routh everytime Nicolas Cage as Superman has to be the worst casting idea ever, its scary that he was contracted at all to play Superman.

Ya know I loved Supeman Returns but there a certain things in it that bugs me in it like the kid, Lois Lane (way she was scripted) and Richard White (love triangle should always be Clark / Lois / Superman) and no superviallin or at least a proper fight with Lex (in a powersuit or something) but despite thoughs problems I loved Routh (want him back as Superman) and various other things but Tim Burton's Superman would have been a disaster, basically it was Batman not Superman but I do find his ideas interesting enough to see a cartoon version of it or a comic book.

I agree with you! SR was good, but the kid was lame, no villain , but I loved the CGI, the Ottoman score was so amazing, etc...

But Nic Cage would have been an interesting choice.... I don't think he's a good one, but I got keep my mouth shut because who knew Michael Keaton would be an amazing Batman, Heath Ledger was the greatest choice for Joker, etc, etc..

he Ottoman score was so brilliant absolutely loved it. The FX were brill aswell.

Nic Cage just isnt right for Superman, Keaton was a great Batman but remember they could hide him behind a mask.

Heh.. Seriously, Cage performance was propably going to be a mix of Bringing out the Dead, Family Man and... I dunno, Matchstick Men? Alltough I gotta admit, there's not much variety in his acting range... he does hunch more or less, depending on the role hahhaha. Love him.

I loved the Superman Returns movie.
I would vote a) of course, yet, it seems "unfair" to compare something we have seen with something that is only a project. Maybe I would have enjoyed it, maybe it would have been better, maybe worse. I do not know. I enjoy Tim Burton's movie most of the time. So, who knows?Of course I'm not for a black suit and all, but I'm not part of those who want a over-specific suit and color for Superman, especially since he got several one since the beginning in 1938 and since the opinions about colors are very personnal and different.

I would've liked to see Burton's instead of SR. Singer dropped the ball with SR. As for Burton's Superman, it would've been a cool "Elseworlds" Superman to me.

Superman Lives. Why? Because it would have brought the franchise back to life. I enjoyed Superman Returns, but it didn't get the job done. Here we are 4 years later and we're no different than we were in 2003.

Superman Lives had the character, you know, throwing a punch so the general public would have ate it up. Plus, summer `98 was very weak. Actually, 1998 in general, was pretty weak. The highest grossing movie was Saving Private Ryan with $216 million. The lowest grossing #1 since 1995.

So, I have no doubt that Superman Lives would have been the biggest movie that year. $300 million for sure. And spawed sequels.

Road Warrior made a lot of good points and valid points. 1998 was very weak year for films.

Godzilla sucked, it was laughable. Armageddon would have been the only real competition for a Tim Burton Superman.

Even if Tim Burton didn't do a better Superman film than Richard Donner, it still might have surpassed quiet a few of these films. Stepmom, Waterboy, Patch Adams, Rugrats Movie, Youve Got Mail ? ? No matter how bad Burton's vision of Superman turned out, it would have probably performed well at the box office due to lack of competition....

So what Nic Cage films did he do instead of Superman ? ? ? ?
