So... I just got a PS3 Slim

If you want an awesome futuristic racing game for download, get Wipeout. It's awesome and less than a gig of memory.

Some other downloadables I loved were Bomberman Ultra and Worms.

And if you're into Spider-Man, I highly suggest Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. It was one of the most fun games I've played in a long time. More vertigo fun than Mirror's Edge.

I just skimmed through the thread some I'm not sure if they were mentioned but Prototype and Devil May Cry 4 are great as well. The PS store has Final Fantasy 7 and Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night, old games but worth another play imo.

I'm really glad I made this thread. Thanks guys! I would have been clueless otherwise.

No problem. If you have any other questions feel free to ask us.

My first games I bought for my PS3 (Slim) were Skate, and I just bought Modern Warfare tonight after work tonight since I've been borrowing my coworker's games. Modern Warfare is amazing. I'll be buying Uncharted, Killzone 2, and Skate 2 next

I would recommend some games but with everyone recommending Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, and whatnot it would seem kinda pointless on account that those are the games that I would recommend. I would also give LittleBigPlanet a try if you like making your own things.

But my favorite PS3 feature right now, along with the games obviously, is the blu-ray.

And it's very nice in 1080i =) But having never had a PlayStation 3 before (and of course it's not backwards compatible), what games would you suggest getting? I bought Batman: Arkham Asylum along with it and that's cool. Not that I only need this, but I do like games like Zelda where you have puzzles etc. I'm up for anything though.

When I get mine I'll probably get that game with it as well. Where did you get yours?

i suggest trying any and all demos off the ps store.

of what's not been mentioned so far try Valkaria Chronicles. just realise that the strategy gets a lot more involved in the final game.
other pixeljunk games might be worth the small price.

i think MGS4 is more for fans of the series so if you haven't played an earlier one that explains the way to play more explicitly then don't bother. i learnt this after lending it to some one who'd never played one before.

Yo SHH, I am quite surprised that nobody has mentioned COD 4: Modern Warfare. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST that you pre-order COD: Modern Warfare 2, as that is going to be one of the biggest, if not THE biggest game of the year. Also, I would also reccomend buying some of the older games used. Chech out this website, as this is a great resource for games, movies, books, etc. We had this store in my home town and if you are lucky enough to have one in your town/city, I envy you. The store is called Hastings, and here is a direct link to the used PS3 game section.....

BTW, my psn ID is TitansFan76......GO TITANS!!! lol

No one mentioned COD4, most likely bc CoD:MW2 is about to drop in 2 months. I wouldnt reccomend getting the old game especially with the new one coming so soon

I understand that, but MW 2 is a continuation of the story from MW 1, as it picks up right after the events of MW 1.

Honestly, you dont really need to have much of a grasp on the story to enjoy it. It was pretty secondary to the gameplay and even so the meat of the game is in the online multiplayer component. With the new game approaching, the bulk of the community will be with MW2. The online presence of CoD4 went down with the release of WaW and is expected to get even smaller with MW2's release

Good point! Even so, it's still a great game to pick up for around $30. :woot:

You also can't forget about GOW III, even though it doesn't come out until March of next year. :cmad:

I don't know about you, but I feel that COD: WAW is worth picking up just for the Multiplayer and Nazi Zombies, plus the new Map Packs. I loves me some Nazi Zombie action. :woot:

Im not the best person to ask as I hated WaW. One couldnt pay me to pick that up. I prefer to pretend it doesnt exist and have been waiting 2 years for my next CoD fix

Just out of curiosity, what did you not like about it?

I've never played any of the MGS games, but I'm downloading the demo to see. In fact, I'll be downloading a lot of demos of the games mentioned here. Thanks for the additional suggestions all!

Actually I hadn't either, but I did fine walking into Metal Gear Solid 4. I know I missed a lot of the nods to previous games that many of you appreciate, but I still loved it
