So now they're suddenly promising the costume...

Deadpool has a different creative team. Fox cb films needs one main person to keep the others in line imo. Snyder seems to be that guy for DCU and Feige is that for MCU.

Yeah, but those are shared universes. I think that ship has sailed when it comes to Fox's Marvel properties. Can't go back and retroactively make everything fit together.

Well obviously eventually it will. By nature of the contract they'll someday expire. Though I think the hope of them returning any time soon is out of the window at the moment. They've committed to this version. How long after that depends on how this movie gets a sequel or even if Fox decides they'll put out just about anything to latch onto the rights for as long as they can.

Sure makes a noticeable difference when you have a creative team that cares and the company behind them has interest in building that aspect of their films.

Unlike certain other comic book properties owned by the same company.

You guys still think this will ever get back to Marvel?

FOX has already confirmed that they are negotiating with Marvel for the X Men TV rights. And Marvel's bargaining position has improved a tad since the mid 1990s.

What ever happened to Mark Millar and his position as Fox? Seems like he's disappeared.

It now seems like Kinberg has taken over for him.

There was some speculation that there were disagreements between Millar and Singer and Kinberg was better able to work with Singer.

Fox does not need a Feige. Who places the "brand" over creative ideas. The homogenization of the MCU is what has caused me to lose interest in it. Not bad movies for the most part, but it is just very boring to me.

Snyder being the driving force for DC is kind of scary. At least I can trust Kathleen Kennedy when it comes to Star Wars.

I don't think so. At least not in 5 years. It took a long time for Daredevil to revert back and I doubt Fantastic Four will go to Marvel immediately even if it underperforms. Also Fox is not in a financial trouble unlike Sony Pictures (which only had Spider-Man).

If Marvel handed over the TV rights for X-Men, the FF would be handed over in a heartbeat as it's proven to be little more than a middling, at best, performer for FOX and I doubt this film will change that. And FOX don't have much else to bargain with...

And that could have been done a few years ago, save Fox their money for making their 3rd Fantastic Four film and let Marvel to do their own spin to the Fantastic Four. But that didn't happen. I doubt a TV rights for X-Men is suddenly gonna change that when Fox is now pumping out more X-Men films in theater.

I'm sure that negotiations have taken place on and off since 2009, when FOX announced a reboot on the same day that Disney bought Marvel. And it looks as though they didn't fall through until last spring, when Ike Perlmutter ordered the cancellation of FF comics and merchandise just a month or two before FFINO started filming in Louisiana.

I don't think FOX has any intention of going through with a sequel, which is going to cost quite a bit more than this cheap rights grab. If FOX can get full TV rights in exchange for the FF character family, and put X-Factor on FOX, X-23 on FX and Doop:The Series on FXX, they should grab it.

Long story short, Fox was closer to starting preproduction on their Daredevil reboot than they were with Fantastic Four. Things weren't picking up fast enough to get the ball rolling before the license expired, so negotiations started with Marvel.

Marvel offered to let them keep DD in exchange for FF, and Fox just let Daredevil revert because Marvel wanted Fantastic Four more. Fox must've thiugbt they were sitting on a goldmine, but at this stage in the game any Marvel property is worth more under Marvel's banner than anywhere else.

Minor correction: as I've heard it, Fox didn't "let" the rights revert. They fully intended to keep everything, they just screwed up.

They did intend to keep everything, but they decided to let Daredevil go by killing all negotiations because Marvel asked for FF back. I didn't say they wanted Daredevil gone.
