So now they're suddenly promising the costume...

The irony though in all this is that we may end up seeing the sequel to FF before the second season of DD.

Well thats possible since FF2 sequel already has a release date while Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders have to be made and released first before a Daredevil 2 if there's gonna be one.

The DD proto-costume thing would be a bigger deal to me if the series looked like absolute garbage and a complete departure from the comics, sort of like how this FF movie is turning out. As it stands the series looks fantastic and the early buzz on it has been tremendous, so worst case scenario we don't get the red suit until the last episode? Not ideal, but if the series is as good as it looks, no one will bat an eye.
This movie does not have that going for it.

When Daredevil wears a garbage bag while running around NYC and swings on bungee cords...

Yes. It would be a logistical nightmare. Not just between Disney and Fox and their studio heads but also on a producer level between Lauren Schuler Donner and Kevin Feige. (Keep in mind that Donner is not involved with the FF reboot.) The question is whether or not it would be worth it.

Keep in mind that Marvel can still make a Fantastic Four or X-Men animated series and then produce merch for that.

The most reasonable outcome logistically would be to reboot the X-Men with Whedon in a Feige-esque role. He knows the X-Men, Marvel could trust him, and they wouldn't have the delays that would come with attaching Feige (who has a full schedule) to the franchise, which seems to be what happened with Spidey.

I was under the impression that Daredevil was going to be in Defenders, but I haven't been following it that closely so I could be wrong.

Agreed. I would be far more tolerant of the costumes in Fantastic Four (I have no problem with the X-Men film costumes, although they are admittedly better than these are), if the rest of the film looked good. But when the costumes and looks of characters like Thing are bad on top of the far more major issues regarding tone and character, I'm not pulling punches. Everything I've seen from Daredevil other than the costume looks and feels like a Daredevil show should.

Also, television and feature films are different mediums. I'm far more comfortable with a slow burn on a tv show than I would when I'm paying to see a summer blockbuster in the theater.

I'd agree with that.

The FF2 release date means nothing. There's a better chance the Jacksonville Jaguars win the superbowl next year than there will be an FF2 made.

Huh. Learn something new every day. Apparently it's news to everyone that major motion picture studios make major motion pictures to make money...

Anyway, as far as the teaser poster goes...I would imagine whoever "designed" said poster is aware that the color scheme pictured at least somewhat evokes the idea of the Four's classic colors a bit.

Poster's aren't questioning FOX's motivation. They are criticizing the execution in regards to FFINO.

What is this in response too?

Eh.

Or it could mean that Fox wants to release a sequel by any means necessary. Fox's Percy Jackson film got a sequel and that film earned less money than Rise of the Silver Surfer. And this is Fantastic Four.

Nah. Studios hastily set these release dates all the time.

Sinister Six was set for November 11, 2016. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was lined up for 2018. We all know how that turned out.

This is Fox though. Also it was the 2nd time that Sony canceled a Spider-Man film, so nothing new.

However, with Fox, I don't think they canceled a Marvel-based film that already got a release date. So like I said if Percy Jackson got a sequel despite its underwhelming box-office numbers, I'm sure Fox would be willing to give Fantastic Four another chance incase its box-office performance is not good.

Fox cancelled Fantastic Four 3. They also cancelled X-Men Origins: Magneto which was planned to be released in 2009, then was pushed back to January 2, 2011.

Fox has already tried multiple attempts at the Fantastic Four. Thus far, it hasn't paid off for them. If this continues the losing streak, and Marvel can offer an appealing deal, Fox might very well give the rights up.

Talks between FOX and Marvel regarding the X Men TV rights have already been confirmed. If a deal is made, something of value is coming back.

And how did all of this work out for Percy Jackson?

Umm what? Those films never got a release date especially X-Men Origins: Magneto. Also X-Men: First Class happened which covered Magneto's origin. And this film probably has a smaller budget than Rise of the Silver Surfer.

It also covered Xavier's origin and the X-Men's origin. It was an entirely different movie.

A Daredevil 2 was also planned. The point is, Fox isn't above cancelling planned sequels.

Not much smaller. And all signs indicate Trank's FF will be less profitable at the box office.

They haven't canceled one that HAD or HAS a release date.

Read my post again.

The release date is really giving you that much faith in Fox's loyalty to the FF? It's more common for studios to use release dates as placeholders these days than it was ten years ago. Maybe Fox is catching on.

Or maybe they are just confident that the sequel is gonna happen. You never know, Simon Kinberg is probably attached to it when they gave him a 3-year deal last year. And since a lot of comic-book movies are being made these days, maybe Fox is just trying to do the same and release as many as they can?

Why would they have confidence in a sequel to a movie that underwent heavy reshoots? Clearly what they have on their hands has not been working so why would the second go-round be worth sinking money in?
