I thought Wolverine was like a hundred years old or something. I was expecting some period piece or something. I guess not.

Having him be that old would be too much for the audience to cope with I think...

I bet the bulk of the movie will take place "17 years ago" I bet they will do flashback scenes of his past, maybe even back to his childhood?

100 years? Yeah, probably... but more than 17? Probably not. Besides, in X-Men, its been established that Wolverine's mutation makes his age impossible to determine and that he could very well be older than Professor Xavier.

Well, that script review that leaked awhile back mentioned a Vietnam scene. My guess is that the movie establishes that Logan and Stryker had known each other from Vietnam (he mentioned being there in X2), and is now meeting up with him years later to recruit him for Weapon X.

That way they could have Wolverine looking basically the same age at least 30 years ago, and keeps Xavier's line about it being 15 years since he lost his memory in X1 intact.

I well remember Jean Grey speaking those lines in X1. I think having Wolverine as a soldier in the Vietnam War (1959-1975) would be okay, and would tie in to Stryker's talk in X2 of 'flying Blackhawk missions in the jungles of Vietnam'. Whether it would work to make Wolverine any older is down to the writing and directing making it believable and serious - it's not an impossibility to make him even older than Vietnam might suggest. This is where a director like Singer would make it most realistic and believable. I actually like the history that has him fighting alongside Captain America.

I think Jackman and Cox had some good dynamic chemistry in the second film as well. I love Brian as Stryker and should he be in this film it would be a great addition.

I hope that sabertooth ends looking like sabertooth and not like he looked on X1, that was outrageous. About the time line I was hoping that the story would be set more like 50 years ago. I mean not the whole movie but atleast the first half. To establish who he is and where he came from including his childhood. I don't want to just see some flashback scene I want details. Yea one could say that you can do all that without having him be that old but they could take advantage of his slow aging to put him in many situations including historic events and such.

Agreed.

Agreed. They could base a great movie just off the dialogue in that scene by the helicopter in X2. I am definitely hoping they get Brian Cox involved with the movie.

Even 17 years ago, Wolverine is still pretty damn old, but at least he hasn't been "worked on" yet..

And the brief exchange before the ice wall bit. Those two work well together. Like Patrick and Ian.

As do I. In fact, one of my favorite issues from Jim Lee's run on Uncanny X-Men details Wolverine's past with Black Widow, Captain America, etc. His history is a rich one, featuring a variety of interesting characters. There are a number of ways by which to approach his story, and I'm interested to see which one they ultimately choose.

Wolverine in Vietnam sounds cool. :)

I hope we still get flashbacks showing scenes from Origin. I'd rather have that then the whole thing where he was getting beat up by Football players in 50's and such.

Wolverine is my favorite X-men character so I hope they just make good movie I am glad they did not replace hugh jackman he makes the perfect wolverine.:wolverine

I agree! Hugh Jackman IS Wolverine, right down to his Clint Eastwood resemblance! Artist, Mark Texiera, in the original Wolverine series, would sometimes depict Wolverine looking like Clint Eastwood--Elvis, too! Yeah, it's amazing how Hugh Jackman, the perfect Wolverine, was actually a last minute replacement for Dougray Scott!:wow::up:

If they ever do a movie about Clint Eastwood's life I hope they cast Hugh Jackman.

Did anybody ever read/see the Hugh Jackman interview where Hugh was talking about the time he met Clint Eastwood? He was starstruck, lol. He told Clint about how people say he looks like Clint. Clint was completely uninterested. :oldrazz:

lol yeah i read that. From Hugh in an interview:

"I did meet him, once, at a huge convention in America, and all the stars had trotted out and sat on a huge table. There were 5,000 people out there.
And so, I looked down on the floor and I was standing at my name place, and there was Clint Eastwood in front. So for about 10 minutes, I was saying to myself 'oh my God, it's Clint Eastwood'.
And he turned up just before he had to go on, and I got up the courage and said, 'Clint', - and he turned round, but didn't say anything - and I said, 'my name's Hugh Jackman', and he shook my hand and I said, 'look, I've got to tell you, quite a few people have said to me that, perhaps, we look alike in some films', and he goes, [pause] 'yeah'. So I kind of went 'yeah, good to meet you', and he turned around and I never said another word to him; he couldn't have cared less! You know, 'whatever, kid!'."

lol yeah i read that. From Hugh in an interview:
Hugh had another version when he was honored at ShoWest last year - the video was posted online and I watched him relay the story. The end was Eastwood's line, after Hugh told him people said he resembled him - he said Clint just looked at him and said "you're holding up the line, kid." And Hugh did a GREAT Eastwood impression when he said the line. Eastwood was in the audience when Hugh presented an Oscar last week - wonder if they ran into each other again.

Yeah, From what I've read of Origin, that book was amazing.

Or if they ever need to cast somebody as old Wolverine, Clint Eastwood should play him.
