So tell me, what was wrong with B89's Joker?

That has a simple explanation: he is the same person dude.

The desfigurement of Napier unleashed something that was there. It couldn't have unleashed something that wasn't there before; ex nihilo nihil.

That said, Joker was quite different from Jack to state he performed both characters the same way.

It was like Alex Ross said about the Joker on the B89 SE. He thought the Hamm version of the Joker was more credible, that the Joker had "always been this mean guy, but the accident unhinges him and it allows him to open up his nastiness to a new creative level!"

Fair enough. I still stand by my opinion of not enough volatility and consider it valid. Also, like I said in my first post of the thread, even when I was a kid, Joker didn't click me as the Penguin and Catwoman in the movies. So, you could say my initial and truest reaction was that: I just didn't find him perfect. However, in that same post I explained my philosophy and my tastes in acting, so there you have it. The non-volatility factor is always takn into account in ANY movie, not just B89. I have no pro-Nolan/ anti-Burton agendas here, I think I'm making it clearer day by day.
Finally, I don't think I ever presented anything here as a fact, but as my own personal opinion. In fact, my last few posts were made just because I felt there was an atmosphere of the factual "Jack IS Joker" kind. I don't believe that I have ever been dogmatic, in this thread at least.

No, you've been quite fair and level headed. I appreciate it.

That said, although I applaud Jack's performance, the only thing I could have asked for was for him to be younger. He didn't visually look too terribly old, but for the sake of accuracy, I wish he'd been about ten years younger.

What can I say? You seem to have a very loyal fanbase. Maybe you can add things to your posts and release them 30 years after they were made to get some money (ok, that was too lame a joke:csad:).

Hey, it worked for George Lucas. :cwink:

Let me tell you this, I never seem to have a problem with age or colour (yes, I'm referring to Kingpin, Alicia and Billy Dee as Dent. Although I will say that I found his casting ridiculous, not for colour reasons).
Of course, the more accurate to these details a movie adaptation is, the more bonus points it gets, but it doesn't REALLY concern me. And that was the case with Jack.

As in... banned?
As in... left the forums?
Or as in... died?

His user title now says 'Banned User'. The reasoning behind him being banned, I can only guess.

Ah, I see. Well, since the reason wasn't death, he'll live I guess.

Then of course his original comic origin also had him as a mean crook who took a mean plunge into a river of chemicals. I have never ever bought into the whole "the chemicals made him teh insane" thing not in this movie and definitely not in the comics. It's just one possibility out of hundreds. I think that's why Alan Moore said he thinks TKJ was a silly story,

Alan Moore dislikes TKJ I think because it didn't have any underlying themes.

Best scene for jacks joker is when he electrocutes the mobster and talks to the fried dead body. He nails it there, scarily funny, truly insane. Dancing to prince, now thats a different story!!

But not out of character at all.

The Prince music was fun. So, The Joker thought it was fun to dance to at his big parade before he gassed everyone.

The song itself was quite relevant too. Trust. Joker gained their trust with the ulterior motive of genocide. He thought it was funnier than hell. Pure Joker right there.

I'm watching Batman '89 right now on AMC. The museum scene is on, Joker is prancing around like a nut. I wish the scene only lasted longer :D

Nothing only that they made him create The Batman by killing his parents.

I'm currently living with my folks, as I promised my future roommate that I wouldn't get an apartment and abandon him before he graduates. What's my point? One TV in the living room. My Dad does not consider Jack as The Joker dancing to Prince at a parade and then gassing the audience to be good entertainment. He needs to learn what enjoyment is. He needs to, dare I say it, broaden his mind. Lawrence?

Tim Burtons first was my introduction to Batman, so I have nothing to compare that films Joker to. I've gathered that most long time fans (some of my friends included) weren't happy with that films/Jack Nicholson's take on the character. Why not?

And is there anyone else that's worried about the dialogue in the teaser sounding like a Jack Nicholson's Joker impression?
Don't listen to the losers online, they don't know anything. No real Bat-fan dislikes Jack as Joker!

There are so many idiots on these web sites that like the dumbest crap and don't know what's really good, mostly anime morons.

Jack is The Joker even Bob Kane said JN was the only one for the role.

That is The Joker.

Not like Heath who is not the Joker in anyway.

When I first read your post, I read "Because he IS Batman, you moron". Not funny, but I had to say it for some reason.

When watching the film back when I was 13 I didn't feel outraged at Nicholson's performance, his flamboyant performance as Joker had the audience laughing and almost rooting for the Joker to win.

But now after seeing B'89 countless times and analyzing every detail, I've come to the conclusion that while Jack Nicholson was a great Joker for the time the movie came out, but for hardcore fans like me you got to treat the material with respect and as close as possible to the comics but just with just a little leeway so as to bring in the average joe who doesn't know jack about comic books.

So that means I don't want a old potbellied Joker who kills Batman's parents.

I thought Jack was spot on. I agree I dont know where this thought that Joker is Hannibal Lecter with make-up.

Jack was close to the comics and his version had full of respect to the original material. I'm not getting this.
