The Dark Knight Reactions to trailer: Del Toro, Dini, others

I don't know if DKR would fit as well with Del Toro, though if he put his own spin on it I might like it more. For him I think an original story would work best, but set in a really fantastic setting like some of the Elseworlds. With a villian like Poison Ivy, where all sorts of various plant monsters are possible, he could really have a field day.
Ooh, that would be something indeed.

Del Toro would be somewhere between Nolan and Burton in his balance of reality and fantasy. That would be really cool.

i'm wary of watchmen because i've hated everything else zack snyder has done thus far. but with source material like that, it's really hard to screw up.
I actually think it would be super-easy to screw up. Watchmen is so rich and thematic, that it would be quite difficult to adapt to a 2.5 hour movie.

The set pics look good though, so at least he's got that detail down.

You can hardly say Zack Snyder "screwed up" 300. You can say you dislike 300 - however since it was practically a frame for frame retelling of a Comic its hard to blame that on Snyder.

It would be like blaiming Moore for the art of Watchmen.

I wanna see Del Toro do a movie with clayface or manbat.

I second that. Not so much Manbat but definetly Clayface!! Del Toro would be a damn good choice for a director to bring a character like Clayface to the bigscreen.

Hehe. It's funny that we are more nitpicky than Del Toro, Loeb, Dini, Kevin SMith. They just seem to enjoy everything.

That's because they're creators. Fans tend to think more like critics. Hence the whole "but it would've been so simple to have done it like this" or "I could've done better" attitude.

Just because they say they love something, does that mean there are things they wouldn't change about Nolan's vision, if they were doing it? No. But these people, because they are in the public spotlight, have to be somewhat careful about what they say.

Seriously. What remotely famous or respected person is going to come out and criticize a trailer and claim they'd do it differently?

No it was not a frame by frame to a point. All the Queen and Political stuff was added by Snyder. Not from the Graphic Novel.

I do have the grahpic novel, and it is good. And the movie was pretty good. But I agree with Stormin for the most part. Snyder for the most part besides the Queen stuff, stayed pretty true to the Graphic Novel. But the whole subplot of the Queen was made up. So its hard on that aspect to say it was frame by frame. But for the sequences in the novel it self he did stay true to Miller's vision for it.

Though I really hope he does not mess up Watchmen. I would even heed the warning to one such as Speilberg. Mainly because Watchmen is the greatest graphic novel....and there is a lot riding on Snyder's shoulder. Though I'm sure it will be a great adaptation I have hope. Glad 300 did good because they gave him more money to do Watchmen because of it.

But I think Snyder will do justice to Watchmen. But I can see why anyone would be weary of it. Such a complicated story to tell.

Heh, no kidding. Snyder's got balls. I'm glad he knows what's of expected of him though. I mean, this isn't even about DC or Marvel. The whole damn comic book genre is looking at this film. :lmao:

Haha, Bruce Glover is a clown. What did Tom Jane say?

When asked about the new Punisher movie, he said something like, "That's not the real Punisher". But I think he was drunk during the interview and it's unclear if he was being serious.

Yea I agree. I wonder if a teaser will come out this spring with some of the big movies.

I'm excited for it though. Watchmen is timeless.

Yes, he was drunk. And serious. And right. Because this new Punisher is going to make me pine for the Lundgren Punisher.

It's hard for me to see video clips of a drunk Tom Jane being kind of a dick because it reminds me of the fact that he was offered the role of the Comedian in Snyder's Watchmen. And he would have been fawking perfect.

Aw... the Queen was the best part of the movie!

Less points for Miller. I guess the only "strong women" he can write are dominatrixes.

Ha, seriously. I thought the whole film was directly from the comic and was shocked at the strong female character. Now the whole thing makes sense. Oh Miller.

I hated the Queen part from 300. Not because it was a subplot with a woman. Because it was... well, bad, imo.

Another option is that they simply wouldn't say anything pro OR con. :oldrazz:

as an artist i agree completely. like they say "those that cant, ***** constantly about those that can"

or something like that:oldrazz:

You guys ever heard of Martha Washington, Sarah Essen or Ellen Yindel? :whatever:

hahaha.

or elektra or carrie kelly or catwoman in y.o. ...

Well, the very definition of a professional art critic in many people's book is "A failed artist", so... I agree.
