The Dark Knight Reactions to trailer: Del Toro, Dini, others

It's cool to see Del Toro get some praise from you guys. He's one of my favorite directors, ever since Cronos and The Devil's Backbone. I find Hellboy to be his weakest movie. It's not bad, but I think Guillermo and Mignola are so layered in their own motifs and styles that when the two came together their particular narrative and visual styles didn't blend well. Hellboy 2 looks interesting to say the least. I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Del Toro is a talented director...much in the same lines as Nolan.

Cronos was classic, Devils Backbone I haven't seen yet....Blade 2 was my favorite out of that series, Hellboy was average and Pans is his masterpiece so far. Hellboy 2 looks like it will be a significant improvement over Hellboy 1.

I would like to see Del Toro direct a Batman movie someday if at all possible.

An Elseworlds-style Del Toro Batmovie would be gorgeous. I would love to see that.

Can you imagine Del Toro directing a TRUE JLA movie and getting a solid cast compared to that crap they are getting ready to produce right now with Miller?

With the way Del Toro does effects and makeup and costumes.....WOW!

I'm not too fully verse on the whole JLA, but from what I've heard much of anything would be better than the crap they're trying to get together. The animated adaptations are miles better than any of crud they're pushing.

But yeah, Del Toro's really starting to make a name for himself as a great fantastical director. He could really work wonders with the Batman mythos.

Or maybe even something like DKR? It's kind of futuristic and Del Toro could put a cool fantasy spin on it.

I don't know if DKR would fit as well with Del Toro, though if he put his own spin on it I might like it more. For him I think an original story would work best, but set in a really fantastic setting like some of the Elseworlds. With a villian like Poison Ivy, where all sorts of various plant monsters are possible, he could really have a field day.

Oh yeah, for sure.

Lets just say... its better than pretty much any comic book live action movie in recent years. If only people could get past the 'ITZ A CARTOONZZZ!!!', they would really want to hit WB and Millier.

The actions great
The stories are awesome
Plus it has Kevin Conroy as Batman :cwink:

and for e.g. you would care much more about the relationship between Hawkgirl and John Stewart than Parker and MJ

Wordy McWord Word, Dark Knight90. The cartoons have all the writing and acting down pat. We watched Superman: Doomsday at work when it came out and it was much better than Superman Returns could have ever hoped to be. And yeah, JLU totally made me care about the characters than most movies (and comics) in recent times. I really can't wait until the time animation's not seen as something for kinds :/

Bruce Timm's the reason I became an animator, as well as a Batfan. I thank him for many, many things.

Absolutely. I love his style, given such rich material as Batman(which off the bat is far better than Hellboy and Blade), I'm sure the result would be masterful.

Cause I think no matter what interpretation of the Joker there is, manic should always be part of his character trait. The previous sentence described my ideal take:

"His version of the character (voiced by Mark Hamill) could turn on a dime, from twisted psychopath to demented prankster"

A guy that can be serious and deadly, but just as well be deviously joyful.

i think we'll see this in the movie, if even just toned down a few notches. for one, there's nothing to suggest we won't, and two, that "you're just a freak...like me!" line reminded me a lot of Hammil's Joker mood swings.

How cool would it be if he collaborated with Mike Mignolia on it? :word:

Ahh..but I'm very happy with what's we're getting. Nolan and Ledger own! I'm glad so many others agree.

I like Del Torro a lot saw HellBoy II Trailer and loved it so it is cool that he loves Nolans work on Joker so far.

I'm just as excited to see Watchmen as I am The Dark Knight but Watchmen is way far off...2009

Absolutely. Nolan, Bale, and Ledger seem to be the perfect team.

i'm wary of watchmen because i've hated everything else zack snyder has done thus far. but with source material like that, it's really hard to screw up.

This is strange. I've always said that after Nolan was through, I wanted Guillermo Del Toro to take over the reigns of Batman. He's a lot like Tim Burton though. His style, his recurring dark themes. The best choice for Batman in my opinion. I could see him adding his own twist to things, maybe change some things here and there, and get ****ted on by fanboys. On a side note, **** Kevin Smith.

Smith rules. And Del Toro or Proyas for Batman would be ideal.

Hehe. It's funny that we are more nitpicky than Del Toro, Loeb, Dini, Kevin SMith. They just seem to enjoy everything.
