The Batman couldn't use Robin until about a month after Teen Titans ended. Justice League Unlimited couldn't use sPeedy until a week after Teen Titans ended.

The Batman couldn't use Two-Face during it's entire run because he was going to appear--briefly--in a sequel that wouldn't even come out until months after the series would run its course.

The Batman could and did use the Joker, who would be the main antagonist in said sequel because he was more popular than Two-Face.

The Batman couldn't use Scarecrow or Rhas al Ghul because they were used in the movie where they built up a fanbase.

Bane appeared in season one but couldn't be used in seasons 2 & 3 because...he appeared somewhere else for a bit?

Is that about it?

Yep the embargo is a mess. I get it somewhat with animated series(prevents two series from making a main character out of the same character). But with live action series it makes little sense.

It makes less sense considering WB OWNS all the characters. They literally have that one advantage over Marvel that they can use their entire library of heroes in anything they want and they have embargoes that get in the way. Really, kids are not as stupid as you may think. They know the difference between a movie and a cartoon.

Yeah, the embargo(s) were stupid. They served no real purpose other than DC basically hurting itself. No Riddler and Scarecrow (or even Joker if they wished to) in the Legion of Doom in JLU. No Ra's, Scarecrow, or Two-Face in The Batman, etc. All stupidness.

Right, right. So, um, why wasn't Mad Hatter in any of The Batman episodes?

I don't know. Unless he is cameoing in The Dark Knight, I have no idea why he wasn't in The Batman. Maybe the writers either forgot about him, or thought he was crap.

the whole idea is complete nonesense, if they can have wolverine appearing in four different titles at the same time, then why not other dc characters

it's not as if the x-men cameo in spidey didn't interfere with their own storyline, more than likely they were in space doing crazy shi'ar stuff then

First off, you did a great job keeping track of and recapping all of that. I certainly couldn't keep up with all of it myself. Some of that I was not aware of. It all just seems pretty silly/futile. They really could've done these things if they wanted to. What would they do, sue themselves? I think the creators just wanted to go in certain directions and came up with the embaros to try to appease the fans. Nice try fellas. As far as the Mad Hatter goes in The Batman, I wonder if they simply didn't bother and maybe another short dude in a tall hat would be confused with their already established version of the Penguin.

I'd say that the embargo is a bit ridiculous now. They need to find a way to end it.

Too true. Before this new Batman cartoon they've got in the works suffers.

And thanks thwip, although I did manage to miss one: How the hell did Superman manage to show up in The Batman between Smallville, Legion, and the inevitable sequel?

Seriously, DC/WB if you're gonna make an embargo at least have it make sense!

The whole thing makes no sense. WB owns all the characters just use them!

That's true. Who would've sued them, themselves?

Example said:
Dan Smith who's in charge of Kids WB! acquisitions is being sued by Mark Laden who is a WB movie coordinator. No matter what happens, WB will not lose nor gain money from this lawsuit... on itself.

Hell, didn't Green Lanturn guest star in Daffy Duck's short lived SciFi toon?
