A Hobbit film by Bryan Singer would suck.
He'd probably make all of the dwarves have repressed homosexual tendencies like Superman and the X-Men. I'm sure it would be just another of his gradiose analogies for being gay. What a self absorbed hack. We get it, Singer, you're gay. Quit wallowing in it.

What a pathetic poll and thread.

Grow up...

I my self am leaning to two people and i am going to tell you why. You guys may not like them but i think they would give us a solid effort. Ro Howard is not to well liked for many disliked The Da Vinci Code but Ron has done this type of genra before. Many did not like it but it became one of those cult fallowing. Willow is one of the best fantasy movie before the special effects really kicked in. Except for The Dragon Slayer and The Neverending Story. Ron Howard has worked with Ian McKellan and delivers solid actors to his movies.

Another prospect i really like is this. He's no giant film maker but i like his style of a movie. Edward Zwick who directed The Last Samari and the up coming Blood Diamond. He is not a very big but i like his style and it would not be a kiddie version. Those are my ideas even though i voted for Mike Newell for a reason of that he being an English Director maybe could cast teh best and get McKellan for he likely knows him.

MGM holding out for Peter Jackson. I want both PJ and WETA to do the film.

Not Tony Scott, Terry Gilliam, Bryan Singer, Alfonso Cuaron, Miller, Lee, Burton, Howard, Spielberg, or anyother director for that matter.

the answer is WHO CARES

the most uninteresting book out of the four, would make for a sliting wrists boring movie considering the other 3 where way close to that level of dullness

It is a fun, interesting, fast paced book. The LOTR books were slow, poorly paced, epics. Sure they are classics, but the Hobbit would be the easiest to adapt. It wouldn't suffer the same translation problems when going from book to film that LOTR had. I am not even sure you've read the book if you claim it's boring compared to LOTR.

MGM Holds Out For Jackson.

(Though I vote for Verbinski 'cause I didn't see that option until I had clicked the vote button.)

I could see Gore Verbinski doing the Hobbit. But whoever they want to direct it, they'd better find him/her fast so that they don't let the Lord of the Ring love fade out of the public memory.
