Marvel released this image Friday afternoon only asking the question "Who Is One Of The Most Exciting New Comic Characters of The Century?", promising an answer Monday afternoon on their website, presumably as part of a preview of their February 2010 solicitations.

Pfft, wanna be Detective Chimp. 00 Chimp.

Let's be honest...does anyone care?

Not at the moment, but I've never been adverse to anamorphic badasses.

Is the ape head real or photoshopped?

If it's not photoshopped then that is my new favorite character. :oldrazz:

its illustated onto the body, he looks like someone deadpool will be mocking sometime soon, lol

I flipped through some Marvel Apes/Marvel Zombies crossover and saw the apes entered the 616 universe. So, guess its someone from that.

It's gonna be that bad of a century, huh?

i guess thats why the deadpool head is in 616 too

haha I think he looks awesome.

I have an illogical love for apes with guns though. Monsieur Mallah

How long til the monkey gets a symbiote..?

Looks dumb. Plus, it looks like it's drawn by Frank Cho, ergo I doubt I'll read it.

"Most exciting comic character of the century!", this has got to be a joke.

It probably is. I bet it's another Marvel Apes thing. Did that sell well enough to warrant another go 'round?

It's just some silly, light hearted fun. Well I hope it is. I hope they don't make it out to be serious.

What's the problem?

If you don't find a duel wielding baboon funny you have no soul.

Looks like 47's baboon self from an alternate universe.

I don't even want to know.

I might have gotten this wrong here, (and if i have, i'm sorry) but WTF do you think you're doing with an avatar of Kyle Rayner with the words 'In Memorium' written underneath it?!

I (like a lot of people) have been avoiding ALL information about The Blackest Night so i could read it in bulk when it's done... I'd been doing a pretty good job of it too 'til i came in here... I mean, are you just floating freely around the boards like this?

Not. Cool.

Facing steady competition for the first time in 3 years from DC, the biggest comic sale decline in six months, and a wide recession, Marvel's big idea to drum up sales is...

A monkey.

The same thing that comics did to drum up interest on covers since the 19 F'ING 50's.

That's what I love about big two comics, boldly embracing the future. Or even the present. Or even anything after 1998.

I don't think they'll be putting too much emphasis on this though Dread. It'll probably be just silly light hearted fun like the Pet Avengers.
