What was his problem? After Goldeneye, he left it and the franchise went down again.

Now he returned it with opening the new door with a re-start stuff. It worked well.

But I am afraid that he isn't going to do next Bond movie.

The question is why he don't (and didn't) want this?

he is not doing bond 22.casino got his intrest because it was the last fleming book.i guess the fact that it was to restart the franchise was the pulling power of why he wanted to do goldeneye. That and it was his biggest film to date.

So if he now leaves this franchise again, it will go down as movies with Brosnan, right? :(

Because I can't see any another good director, who would make so great Bond movie.

Depends who they get, I can honestly not even name the directors of the last 3 Brosnan films.

depends who they get.they were in far gone negotiations with roger michelle who directed craig in SYLVIA.But they fell through. He is someone more noted for drama so i guess that they may go in that direction again.Which hopefully means more charctureisation as in casino.

Roger Spottiswode(sp?) Too much action

Michael Apted ( boring action expect the boat chase)

tamorhori (over blown action)

:)

I just hope craigs next movie isn't like TND or worse it goes the way of the Mission Impossible type. A twisting plot with some device(rabbits foot)
and tons of wierd camera angles

See, I have no idea who these people are.

LOL....thats hilarious! Hopefully they get a good director and not some c movie guy.

Off the top of my head...these directors would be interesting to see do a Bond film....

Michael Vaughn
Michael Mann
Peter Berg
Christopher Nolan
Ridley Scott
Alfonso Cuaron

CR was flemings first bond novel

i wasnt sure about him at first....but now HE MUST come back!

I see him as the Terence Young of the franchise right now. Hopefully they can get him back.

I hope that they can get Campbell back.
I love Campbell's Bond films and The Mask Of Zorro.

Any of them would be great.
I doubt that Berg would do it, though, unless he takes some time off of Friday Night Lights.

...and did you mean Matthew Vaughn?

Never gonna happen. The Bond franchise never uses big-name directors. This is a producer-controlled franchise and if they bring in a big-name director he will have more power than them. And, they don't want that. Hence why they didn't let Quentin Tarantino direct Casino Royale.

As for Campbell...he hates repeating himself. Hence why he's relunctant to do more Bond films.

I think what this franchise needs is another Terence Young, Guy Hamiliton, Lewis Gilbert, or John Glenn. You know...people who are willing to direct several Bond films. That was the biggest flaw in the Brosnan films. None of the directors they got were willing to direct more than one film. You want a director who could atleast direct two or three films. Or maybe someone like John Glenn who directed 5 Bond films in a row.

i dont think it was the directors which ruined the Brosnan. it was the screenplay....

TND & DAD were going the direction of the absurd almost-sci-fi type, Moore Bond movies. it was that dumb factor that made the James Bond franchise a joke to those who were into seriously good espionage movies like the Bourne movies and Spy Games.

i liked TWINE... TND was a bore to watch again...the remote control car was just a bit too corny....
and DAD was such a mess...
(ive posted this part on the other topic)

...yeah. i thought it started cool with the whole "Bond-gets captured & tortured" thing.

...then the Ice Fortress comes in, & the main villain looking like some spoiled boyband kid, the fantasy car, and the SuperRobotic Gloves... dumb. hehehe

That's cos Tarantino wanted Pierce Brosnan as Bond for Casino Royale and the producers went for Martin Campbell instead who they knew he directed great Bond film before - Goldeneye.

Not only that but Tarantino wanted the film to take place in the 1960s. His ideas seemed radical to them...which is funny since these are the same people who sent James Bond to outer space in Moonraker. lol.

But, at the end of the day we have to give Tarantino credit for this film. It was because of him that it was made. Originally they weren't gonna make Casino Royale. In fact, they had originally written another script for Bond 21 which, I THINK, is being re-written for Bond 22.

It was Tarantino who said, "I wanna make Casino Royale." Then they said, "yeah that sounds like a great idea but you aren't making it QT."

I like Tarantino movies but I'm glad that Campbell came back to do another Bond movie, Pierce Brosnan in CR would NOT worked since the story is about Bond's 00 status and how he become secret agent plus much as I like Brosnan as Bond but he was 49 when DAD was released (not sure of his age so don't quote me on that.)

Well...you never know. Tarantino may or may not have stayed faithful to the book.

I just don't want this franchise to go down again, because of bad directors.

Maybe SOny really should find someone, who would be good filmaker for Bond movies and at the same time could stay for three or two films.

Why not get Sam Raimi, he's alledged to do the hobbit, I'm sure he can take on Bond too...

...that was a joke btw.
