It was most likely announced before X3 started production, but I completely forgot so I'm going to ask you guys- Why again was Nightcrawler not in the movie? Did Alan Cumming say no? Did they not write him into the script? Did Rattner not want him at all?

Too many blue people. Wasnt a major player when writing the script. Alan Cumming wasnt exactly eager to get back in the make-up chair.

As for the blue people crack, joke or not, Mystique was taken out of the movie pretty fast.

Did anyone see that Brotherhood member teleport when they all attacked Alcatraz? The 'pawns' as Magneto calls them. There were people jumping and then I saw a 'bamf'.

Yea, you'd think going to "war" with six vs at least 100, the X-men could've used as many allies as they could get. Curious that someone didn't think "Hey! Lets give Nightcrawler a ring!"

Fox chose not to take up the Nightcrawler option according to Alan Cumming (on his official website). I think the reason was cost given that he would only have been in the film briefly.

Cost cost cost... thats all thats in fox's mind. Although when it comes to cashing in its no problem if the amount of money is bigger everytime...

It worked well for me. sure nightcrawler has great powers and brings a unique dynamic to the team, but seriously, other than that he's a one trick pony for the x-movies and it felt right that they moved on from him. he's too passive anyway!

my opinion aside, i'm sure others have already answered this but he didn't get along w/singer, and it was mutual for him to be written out.
