Well i've had a few already but i never wanted to read them because i wanted to start from New World Order (vol 1) but none of my shops ever have it. I ordered it and it finally came in, and i've had it for 2 weeks now and couldnt get myself to read it since i am first attracted by the art then that actually gets me to read the book. If the Art is Bad i cant read it. I love Porters work but in this book he wasnt the problem, the problem is that I hate the Crab mask costume on Kyle, I hate the "hook hand long hair: aquaman phase and I dread supermans Mullet, infact i quit reading comics after the return of superman where he came back with a mullet.

Any who, i'm all caught up with my comics and i was on the crapper and decided to grab this book. White Martians=Awsome:up:

It was great, and will be picking up Vol 2 next week. did any one else notice wolverine and dr doom?:O

I will actually admit that I wasn't really as into Morrison's plots in that book so much as I was into his formidable grasp of the characters, which was...formidable.

I liked Morrison's run. It had alot of things going for it. I didn't like every part of it, but it handles most of the characters well, it was high on action, and it treated the continuity well.

I loved most of the plots and Morrison's ability to balance all of the characters. He captured the characters well and, even better, managed to fit a few badass moments in for each of them, usually in every arc. One of my favorite Aquaman moments is still the part in the Queen of Fables arc where he, as the only other royal among the Leaguers, figures out that he's gotta kiss Wonder Woman to wake her up from the Sleeping Beauty-style curse. :)

Oh, yeah, sure, "I'm the only other royal here."

He just wanted some:dry:.

who is the guy in the beginning, he had red hair, shaved on the sides like a mohawk but it was in a pony tail?

Nuklon. He goes by Atom Smasher now. Was a member of the JSA for a while. In his last apearence, it implied he was joining the Suicide Squad. Here's a pic of him currently:

Actually, Waid was writing JLA then during the Queen of Fables arc.

Still, Morrison wrote Aquaman like a ****ing pimp. His whole demearon was all "You're going to fight me? I'm the ****ing King of the Seas! I'm strong enough to trade blows with Wonder Woman and a good enough telepath to read the Martian-****ing-Manhunter's mind without him knowing it. Pimp smack yo ass!"

Of course, he never talked like that. But that's the aura of badassery Morrison wrote him with.

I started at the last issue of Rock of Ages... bought the Rock of Ages TPB, then continued with single issues onwards. My shop got New World Order like a year or so after and that's when I got it. :)

That one issue was what got me into it. I knew it was something special then.

I don't know about that. My brother is kind of into a Dr. Who phase right now, and it has about the same kind of outrageousness as Morrison's writing (might be an influence to him). I think the sheer madness of the situations they're put in kind of elevates the characters to another level. Superman fighting an Angel of God, WonderWorld and its great heroes failing where the JLA succeeded, DC 1 million and their legacy, Solaris, Prometheus - if you've got a great enough canvas to paint on, the heroes come to life.

Wasn't that dark alternate world Flash part of most of these storylines too? Seems to me the years would coincide..
