So you think you know THOR?

Probably. Of course, Busiek was also writing Iron Man and Wonder Man on the team. Just take whatever you think they can do and up it like one and a half times. There's your classic Thor power level.

Thor's just like everyone else. His power levels are determined by whatever situation the writer puts him in.

Right, but relative to other characters, that's where his powers should be in any given situation--a tier above the likes of Iron Man or Wonder Man.

I agree with that. Or rather, I would have agreed with that when those stories were taking place. Now, Thor's considerably stronger. Or least should be on paper.

Well, yeah. That's what I meant by "classic Thor."

By the way, which Thor do we have now? Rune Thor, King Thor, etc...has it been confirmed, or is that a detail that JMS and Marvel couldn't give two ****s about?

It hasn't been confirmed. Recreating Asgard doesn't seem like a classic Thor feat, though, despite the stuff Miss Webb posted at the beginning of this thread.

They said Thor at his "full power" or something, whatever that means. They implied higher power.

Maybe he's still Rune Thor but he's decided to stick with a more visceral fighting style instead of the spell-slinging he was doing towards the end of Oeming's "Ragnarok."

A spell here or there wouldn't hurt, but I much prefer Thor getting down and slamming people in the face with Mjolnir.

Right. I'm not saying one or the other. I just like the idea that Thor's got a trick or two up his sleeves (heh), besides smashing.

Accursed sleeves... :cmad:

Thor's always had lots of tricks besides smashing. He's been able to absorb practically everything with Mjolnir, from energy of all types to magic, and then spit just about everything out of Mjolnir, from more energy to anti-matter to magic blasts. Plus, he can create portals that can go anywhere in space and to other dimensions. Plus, he's immune to the effects of the storm and can call on any elements he chooses whenever he feels like it. He's always been one of the most versatile characters in comics. Most people just don't seem to know it.

I know that, Mr. Ass. I was just commenting about my liking of Thor casting spells. :cmad:

Yeah, well, not many people know that, so how was I to know you weren't just another ignorant wannabe? :o

I agree, spells are cool. It's almost overkill at this point, though. Thor as a top-tier bruiser and a top-tier mystic? It's like putting the Superman and Dr. Strange together. It nullifies some of their respective weaknesses.

I didn't say I wanted him to take over for Dr. Strange, did I? Dammit, Corp, I mostly just like the thought of Coipel drawing some spelly pictures! Dammit! :cmad: :cmad:

I don't know Thor too well, we only hang out when he needs a designated driver.

Ha! No mere mortal liquors would faze the mighty Thor. :o

Dude. Anger issues much? :wow:

Are we turning this into another old school cartoon lovefest, again?
