Does anyone else feel it's a bit off to advertise the Dark Knight for Dominoes and have toys in cereal boxes. This isn't Batman Forever.

It just doesn't seem to fit like BF would have. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing my fave hero everywhere, but it's funny.

It would be like having a V for Vendetta candy bar.

This time they're definitely doing more for the marketing than with one, the one thing they've done better that I love are the action figs. The movie masters figures are awesome. Those I'm very happy they decided to do better with this time 'round. I know the last time with BB they wanted to show it wasn't about toys and happy meals but now they know it's safe, they've established safe ground, but just with the way it's done now it seems funny to see those goofy commercials for pizza or a bat shaped Reese's peanut butter cup. Well the dominoes ads I hate.

its definitely off....me and a guy on xbox 360 were talking about how it kinda down plays the whole feel of the movie...but we understand because its more money for wb...

Not as bad as Yoda grabbing a Pepsi(or was it coke?) that was on billboards when episode 3 came out. They should put severed fingers in Happy Meals with death threats written in blood... you know... something for the kids.

Batman is so easy to market, nobody would give up the chance to have batman plastered all over their candy, or cereal, or whatever else people will see everyday.

Untill there is a rated R batman movie there will always be marketing like this.

You did notice that their is an entire thread dedicated just to grown adults that are collecting The Dark Knight toys?

I have an 8 year old and a five year old who could care less that a movie is coming out, they get excited over the toys.

I agree. Beside, Rated R films can get some marketing toward kids. Surely you all remeber Terminator 2. They made lot of toys based on that films. Same for Aliens & Predator in the early 90s too.

Yeah I had a Robocop figure when I was little and that's like one of the most violent movies ever.

It was Pepsi, I remember them doing all those silly ads and putting SW pictures on those cans

i just remember back in the day when the power rangers movie came out....i remember i had my mom driving me all over the city so i could get every color ranger from the burger king happy meals. people do funny things.

it doesn't bother me at all, its not like you will see Batman go "Mmm, Captain Crunch" or "I could sure use some Domino's right now.."

I remember that. Also, when Burger King had Pokemon toys, our family literally ate Burger King for like a week straight, haha.

how mad would the whole of fandom be if there were a scene where bruce was kicking back, eating some doritos and ordering dominos...meanwhile, the joker, in his lair, is ordering the same exact pizza...but with different toppings!

because they are like each other but opposite sort of.

Although some children magazine...is using the dark knight as the cover art...gives a wrong message...

WAIT till some of the parents get surprised.

When I saw batman begins in Imax...the few parents down there think it is a shot for Imax mini film...for kids...

In the end...the parents enjoy the movie so much...while the kids are bored. Got one kid keep asking to go home or something...while the parents wanted to watch finish.

Dumb Batman commercials.

Did anyone have Batman 89 on VHS? Remember that Diet Coke commercial it starts out with?

Batman is for kids. It would be stupid not to do it

Yes there is a version of Batman for kids is called "The Batman" and the new "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" coming out this fall, THIS Batman, TDK Batman is not for kids! But regardless companies are still gonna do their best to make a buck off of it, its just an obvious fact.

I love that commercial I still have my vhs with it on it to this day, my original copy too!

Out of curiosity, what is Batman rated in the states? It's 14A in Canada, so if you're under 14, you can't get in without a parent. That sort of takes kids out of the picture, but I totally agree, Batman sells toys just like the Alien and Terminator movies do.

I'd think that parents seeing the run time is 2:30 hours would be smart enough to not bring any kids. No matter what the movie was, no 6-10 year old kid is going to sit for 2:30 hours in a theatre. And when they do, it's the rest of the audience that does the real suffering.

This advertising is not for you. It's for kids. And either way it raises awareness.
