forgive me if i'm behind on this, but i didn't come across this site til yesterday (7/27) and looked a little more into it today. i don't understand this whole game "checkpoint" thing going on, but that's not what this post is about.

i was looking at checkpoint 6, the one with all the cards, and i noticed the card 5th from the left in the top row. it's interesting cuz i am in the middle of reading this ghost book (Ghosts: Washington Revisited by John Alexander) and that same picture of the guy is in this book! He is Lewis Payne and he was involved in the conspiracy to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. I just think it's interesting that I JUST read about him and now he's on a Batman site.

I wonder what relevancy he has to this movie? Probably none, they probably just thought the picture fit.

pretty creepy

So... The Joker shot Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy and JR.

Good job.

I guess this is akin to the mob hiring lee harvey oswald etc

It would make sense with what we know. Dent is cracking down on organized crime with the help of Batman. Perhaps their regular hitmen are all getting busted, so Maroni has to go outside of his organization for help, much like Falcone went to the Scarecrow in TLH.

OMG! Those are some amazing detective skills. It leads me to one conclusion....frowdawgg...is..Batman!!! Dun-dun-dun!!!!

on the night of lincoln's assassination, paine was sent to kill the secretary of state...

Shortly after 10:00 P.M. that evening, Paine and David Herold arrived at the Seward home, the Old Club House (pictured to the left; it was torn down in 1895 and is now the site of the Court of Claims Building), in Lafayette Park across from the White House. Paine gained entrance to the Secretary's residence by telling the butler, William H. Bell, that he had medicine for Seward from Dr. Tullio Suzzaro Verdi (Seward, 63, was quite ill due to a carriage accident and was confined to his bed in his 3rd floor bedroom). Paine was well-armed. He carried an 1858 Whitney revolver which was a large, heavy, and popular gun during the Civil War. Additionally, he carried a huge silver-mounted bowie knife with an alligator motif and the engraving "The Hunter's Companion - Real Life Defender." After pistol-whipping Seward's son, Frederick, Paine attacked the Secretary of State with his knife. He placed his left hand on Seward's chest and then struck down with his knife several times. One stab wound went entirely through the Secretary's right cheek. Although Seward was seriously injured in the attack, the leather-covered iron brace around his neck and jaw may have saved his life. In all, Paine injured 5 people during his wild rampage in the Seward home.

maybe they're hinting that the joker got his dashing smile from an attempt on his life, and not orbitz gum.

or at least half of it.

What?

I think you've got the wrong thread...you're looking for the "Anyone notice in the Joker/knife pic?" thread...there's plenty of ridicule there, but none in here.

You are completly on the money. Ill edit my post.

This thread is cool btw. Just shows the depth of detail these viral marketing guys are using.

I hope they release a full deck of different Joker cards as part of the merchandising. Maybe print all of those featured on that site and release them to the public.

They won't, but it'd be cool.
