I was watching the dockumentary on the interactive Bat-cave on Vol. 4 of TAS, and Timm said his redesign of Clayface was better and made him look less like a pile of puke and more like Clay, this was stupid, he didn't look much different in the more simple design, just more blocky, the old look was way better.

It's like Bruce Timm knew he screwed up with the new look that was way to simple and he's trying to justify it to himself in some ways. I've heard him say before he screwed it up, and that his Joker wasn't right at all.

I think the only thing I liked best about the WB look was The Penguin.

Anyway, it was just dumb, 'cause Face still looked the same just more blocky, the old look was way better, so much more detail, and it sounds like Timm got lazy, he said he didn't have to put in all that stuff, so say what you really mean, you liked it 'cause it was easier.

It lost that beautiful tough TAS had before the WB series. I do like the WB stuff, but the look was awful at times, it looked like a 4 year old drew it.

Only thing i liked better was the Batmobile, apart from that it was all **** up.

TAS Clayface redesign wasnt really significant enough in my opinion to really matter. But unfortunately this wasnt the case with some of the other redesigns they did with 'Gotham Knights' that to me appeared done for the sake of wanting to stand out as a different animal than the previous series.

I really didn't care for any of the re-designs.

Why would Timm "get lazy?" All he did was the initial designs; it's not like he animated every cell by hand. Even the turn-arounds and attitudes were done largely by Glen Murakami, and most of the animation was done by a Japanese studio. It didn't benefit Timm personally, it was just a stylistic choice.

One that was techinically "better." The old series had a great, old-timey look to it, but on Superman everything was crisper. This worked for the source material, but it caused a naturally transition into Batman and ultimately, the expanded DC Animated Universe. Without that new look, there'd be no Batman Beyond or Justice League.

The redesign wasn't as "classic" but it made for smoother, cleaner and more fluid animation. Less is usually more in animation. Too much detail makes it hard to animate; it's why shows like the 90s X-Men looked so messy so often. They went for a comic panel-accurate style. X-Men Evolution, while not as "classic" had much better animation.

i agree with EVERYTHING you just said.

agreed.
i still don't get the reasons behind the Joker redesign. or the Catwoman. her head got oddly shaped. i mean, really oddly shaped.

Two-Face, Harley, Montoya, Clayface, Mayor Hill, Bruce Wayne, Baby-Doll, Scarface/Ventriloquest, and Alfred didn't look that much different. Penguin, Scarecrow, Batgirl, and Batman all had better costumes in my opinion.

Baby-Doll doesn't look that much different to me.
i didn't like either Croc design, so i'm meh to that.
Riddler's sucked.

Mad Hatter had a crazy awesome redesign. so did Bane.

don't know why they gave Riddler the Jim Carrey look.

The subtle differences are what makes the original better to me.
The original seems like it has a more mature crazy child star not-grown up. The other just looks like a crazy little girl.

much like Two-Face, she just got simplified. nothing too drastic. and Baby-Doll only looked like that in BTAS when she went crazy. otherwise she looked like a crazy lil' girl.
