I'm disappointed to hear that Hoffman turned down the role. He was really perfect for it. Hes a thespian who can melt into his characters, he's fat and he's a few years older than Bale but not too old(I like the idea of a little bit younger Penguin than we usually see in the comics- who is in his mid to late 40s I think).

I love Bob Hoskins, he's a good actor and yes he has the right build for Penguin- and yet, its just too obvious. I'd REALLY prefer someone else, younger.

But I just cannot think of anyone who fits the bill for me. The other suggestions I've heard, David Suchet, Paul Giamatti and Timothy Spall- are pretty lukewarm.

Though he is not exactly fat (he could be by the time TDK starts filming) that describes Joe Pantoliano to a T.

Joe Pantoliano would be my second choice, followed by Paul Giamatti.

See, this is the type of info that just gets redundant and old. I mean.....who cares if Penn was in the mix for Joker.....it doesn't matter anymore. We also already had an idea that Hoffman was not going to be Penguin....so that info is of no use at all! I want to hear whats going on now...and next week....regarding casting for the other roles.....if there will be possible set locations for this film like the Iceland shoot in Begins.....if there will be a stealth Boat used in this film.....if he will use his ninja stars more and smoke bombs....how the costume may look like......will Sara Essen, Talia, or Leslie Thompkins be in the film? Will Scarecrow make an appearance? Who are the new Cobblepot/Penguin candidates and who MAY be the frontrunners for Dent?? These are the the topics I want info on.....not repetitive BS that has been gone over the last 5 updates. Get with it....JettMan....sheesh....

Jett's becoming more and more unprofessional at updating his site. Instead of ignoring negativity, he lets it get to him. This update was completely unnecessary and pointless. Who gives a flying crap now if Penn was in the running? He didn't get it. End of story.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that WB has cut absolutely all ties with Batman on Film until filming starts. They're keeping everything on a real tight lid. Poor Jett has to keep feeding us interviews and opinion pieces just to keep everyone mildly interested. This time back in 03, if you remember, there was a lot of news about casting and filming locations. Why isn't there any now? Because they don't want us to know. And I'm beginning to realize that Jett's website may just be feeling the brunt of it.

At first I thought it was his fault that we were getting crappy news, but I'm becoming more and more convinced that WB is using him as a diversion/pawn in their little game. Then again, his sources might really be just ****e. Either way, no one has a frickin' clue what is going on with this movie, and that only happens when someone wants it to be that way.

I think you're right, this is what I've been suspecting as well.

They used Jett's site last time to listen in on the fanboy community, and feed them genuine info about the movie to get them pumped, since WB knew they had to prove themselves again after the crap that was B&R.

Now that BB was a success they could feel they don't really need BOF- they're just stringing Jett and all of the fanboy/internet community along, because they know this time they don't have to dazzle everyone with genuine news on the film to get them hyped up for it.

And I know I've said a lot about Jett out of anger here lately. I really love the guy for all that he's doing, and I still have nothing but respect for him. I just think he's being toyed with right now like the rest of us. I just don't want to see BOF lose credibility because of all the misses they've had here lately, because they're still our best source for Batman news on the web. I don't want to see that change.
