I'm about 50/50 on it. I actually think the flag looks better than the USA Flag and from friends have found out it represents 'Southern Pride'. Hell, you can still get Southern Flag tats where I live in Eastern North Carolina. But at the same time...it can also represent 'hate', 'racism',...guess that's it.

I'm also getting a new tat one day....it's the USA made out of rock...with part of the USA Flag in it...but thinking on it, I'm gonna change it up. Have the southern part be the Southern Flag and everything else be the Northern Flag.

Also, I came up with the 4th vote option cause the Vote Question was gonna be 'What do you think of the Southern Flag?' but then I thought of a different question.

Do you mean the Confederate flag???

Is the Confederate flag even a recognized flag in the country anymore?

The Confederate Flag that represents a group of states that wanted to secede from the United States to form their own country due to their desire to keep their slaves and to take advantage of the fact that the US was pre-Industrial and their territory was more agrarian than the Union? Doesn't that flag thus represent the very opposite of patriotism?

The flag should be changed to a picture of the Gen. Lee from the Dukes of Hazard. I want the whole care on the flag.

The odd thing over the whole debate is that the Confederate flag that people fly now is not the same design as the one that flew over the original Confederacy.

It's a symbol of states rights, something that the Founding Fathers were very adamant when this country was founded. Along with heritage and pride in the South.

That and it has been turned into a symbol for rednecks

Depends on the person. Back then,...I think...they did what they thought was right. (Which wasn't cause slaves are bad). Although I heard that by the late part of the war, it was no longer about slaves, it was about wanting to be free of the North period.

That be something to see. It probably be more acceptable by the rest of the states.

True. Now a days you see two versions.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets that.
The flag is also seen by people as a symbol for racism. Which angers me.

I get upset when people talk about secession as being unpatriotic considering it was exactly what we did when we left England.

It's a symbol for seceding from the United States to form an entirely new government. Also, I can't stand it when the Founding Fathers are all lumped into a single group like that. It took them forever to adopt the Constitution and Bill of Rights as we know them today because there was a ton of stuff they disagreed about.

It can be that as well. It works in various ways. A symbol of treason, states rights, racism, rednecks, etc., that you really can't define what it really represents.

 what? Don't make fun of Southern People...well, unless if it's funny, but still.

Well South Park's not located in the south, so where's the connection?:o:cwink:

Don't worry I have no problem with people that live in the south, but I hate the hick/red neck culture

Then make a time machine and undo the Civil War and create the flag yourself.
I guess I could do that, but the Civil War was a war about state's rights. So I don't see why I would do that.

LOL

Ask anyone on the street and they'll tell you that the Civil War was about slavery. They'd be mostly wrong, but that's what it's known for.

Really, is that all it's known for?
I did not say what it was known for. I said what it was about.
Which goes back to perception.
People think the Civil War was about slavery, but it wasn't. Slavery might have been a factor. But the war was about Abe Lincoln wanting to protect the Union. "If I could preserve the Union by freeing all the slaves, I would do it. If I could preserve the Union by freeing no slaves, I would keep them all in bondage. If I could preserve the Union by freeing some and leaving others enslaved, I would do that." - Lincoln
Again, the Civil War was not about slavery.
But since most people think it was about slavery everyone assumes that the south is racist, and the Confederate Flag is too.
