Space Jam: A New Legacy

The only Looney Tunes film/sequel I want to see is this;

Looney Tunes to the Rescue
About an old black and white cartoon (voiced by Christopher Walken), bitter about been forgotten in the transition to colour and in particular the popularity of Bugs Bunny, kidnaps Bugs and threatens to 'rub him out'.

With money and viewing figures falling, the head of WB (Sam Rockwell) has a new but knowledgeable animation assistant (Zach Braff) who witnessed the kidnapping team up with a small team of Toons - Daffy, Foghorn, Wyle E, Porky and Sylvester to go search the Warner cartoon vaults (visiting classic cartoon backdrops along the way) and save Bugs. The black and white character would recruit some of the villainous characters - Marvin, Elmer, Yosemite Sam - to help and act as obstacles along the way.

Per Robinson:

In addition, once James announces his decision, he will utilize the Instagram TV app to launch a trailer and/or a documentary for his Space Jam 2 that we’ve waited forever and a day to see. For those keeping score at home, Warner Bros. announced in May 2016 that a sequel is in the works. A sequel to the 1996 classic starring Michael Jordan, Space Jam 2 has gained little traction since first being announced in May 2016. Although an IMDB page for the movie already exists with James attached as the star, Carter told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that the film was still "a ways off." The 14-time All-Star had long been rumored to fill Jordan's Space Jam sneakers, but it wasn't until Warner Bros. formed a content creation partnership with James and Carter's SpringHill Entertainment that the project was officially announced. Last August, director Justin Lin spoke to IGN.com about the logistical challenges that exist with a film featuring active athletes such as James.

It's about to be a big week for NBA star LeBron James. According to a new report from Basketball Society Online, King James will not only announce his decision for free agency but will also debut the trailer for his upcoming movie Space Jam 2 following the big announcement. According to the report, James "will utilize the Instagram TV app to launch a trailer and/or a documentary for his Space Jam 2 that we’ve waited forever and a day to see." Space Jam 2 will serve as a sequel to the 1996 live-action/animated sports comedy film starring Michael Jordan. Of course, as Jordan was the best basketball player at the time (and probably ever), it's only fitting that the current greatest basketball player on the planet (and the only one who could give Jordan a run for his money), LeBron James, will now fill those shoes and take to the court with the Looney Tunes. Plot details for Space Jam 2 remain under wraps, but it's not hard to deduce the overall gist of the movie. And that will likely be LeBron James being called into action to help the Looney Tunes on the court. We'll find out soon enough as LeBron James has until June 29th to opt in or opt out of his current contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He's expected to make his announcement on Instagram TV
.

I wonder if any non Looney Tunes characters will appear? WB owns Hanna Barbera and MGM Cartoons so it would be fun to see Scooby Doo or Droopy appear in some form.

Wow that's....wild.

Even when I was a kid, I never really cared for the original Space Jam.

Bugs Bunny & the NBA go together like Peanut Butter & saurkraut. It's an odd pairing that never worked and I am baffled why there is demand for a sequel.

To be honest my only interest in seeing Space Jam 2 suceed is the renewed popularity of tie Looney Tunes that could come from it. I would love a new series built around shorts to show up on Hulu or Netflix.

To be honest my only interest in seeing Space Jam 2 suceed is the renewed popularity of tie Looney Tunes that could come from it. I would love a new series built around shorts to show up on Hulu or Netflix.

Warner Bros recently announced they're doing a series of Looney Tunes which will be of various lengths between 1-6 minutes and will be traditional animated similar to what Disney did with Mickey Mouse with the various shorts and they'll be released on various platforms.

I wouldn't be surprised if the shorts as well as Space Jam 2 is the way of making the Looney Tunes relevant again after the TV shows fizzled out on Cartoon Network

If there is going to be a Space Jam 2, they should acknowledge a bit of the first movie. I want to see a scenario where Bugs Bunny goes back to the real world and tries to recruit Michael Jordan again, but Jordan says he's retired for real this time and owns his own NBA team and tells Bugs of LeBron James.

I'm just a casual basketball fan, but Lebron is obviously going to the Lakers right?

It'd be CRAZY for James to create another media circus (win-win for Lebron and Instagram), and just to have him announce he'll stay with the Cavs. And THEN, premier the teaser trailer to his upcoming HOLLYWOOD tentpole (in which he also has a multi-project deal at WB).

He's pretty much going to L.A., he craves that lifestyle. He's always been a big fish in a small pond in Cleveland.

Why can't we just have a fully animated Looney Tunes movie?

Like, do an origin about how Elmer and Bugs met.

We need a Tiny Toons movie.

We technically already got a great Tiny Toons movie, How I Spent My Summer Vacation.

LeBron James Sets 'Black Panther's' Ryan Coogler to Produce 'Space Jam' Sequel (Exclusive)

In his first project since directing the record-breaking Black Panther, Ryan Coogler is teaming with LeBron James on the anticipated follow-up to the Michael Jordan-Bugs Bunny hit Space Jam, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Coogler will produce the Space Jam movie and Terence Nance – who created HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness and directed the experimental film The Oversimplification of Her Beauty – will direct. Production on the Warner Bros. film is tentatively slated for 2019, during the NBA offseason. It will be James’ first starring role after a successful turn as a supporting character in the 2015 Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck.

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” says James, “It's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”
