Spawn could it ever be rebooted?

I was just thinking to myself in the sense of wondering if Spawn could ever be rebooted? I mean the 1997 film starring Michael Jai White as Al Simmons/Spawn was a box office bomb but at the same time I would say that Spawn was underrated as a comic book film but fast forward almost 20 years later I was wondering if Spawn could be rebooted successfully? I would say yes depending on the right actor but also having the right story too

McFarlane has been working on the script for a while now. Not sure how far along he is though.

Yeah. Make it a pseudo-horror story.

Al Simmons' origin, then Sam and Twitch go rogue and begin investigating murders linked to the crime boss Billy Kincaid. Have the local PD on Kincaid's payroll. Spawn is, of course, the culprit behind the murders. Kincaid's depredations are being used by Violator to push Spawn into accepting his role as a general in Hell's army.
