Yeah, the air combat system was pretty awesome to.

Definitely! I want something like that in the new game. but I want spidey to be able to free run kinda too. not mirrors edge style! I'm not going there! haha, I mean like Assassin's Creed or Prince of Persia.:yay: but a couple mirrors edge style sequences I wouldn't mind.. would be kinda cool actually... :p
 
I wish they had the "sprint" or whatever it was called, trigger that made you swing faster, but I liked that you could turn mid air, made it feel much more spider-man like then constantly ramming into buildings.

I can't agree with any of these. Fast swinging should be achieved by bulding up momentum, not by pressing a button and magically go faster like you just floored the accellarator. This is supposed to be simulated swinging, it shouldn't be anything like driving a car.

I also feel like Spider-man when, using the game's realistic mechanics, I can be good enough in my swinging to avoid ramming into buildings, even in high speeds. Being able to turn mid-swing just feels like flying (or, again, driving a car). If I want to change direction mid-swing, I should have to fire another webline and use that anchorage and my momentum to turn. If I juat have to push the controller stick in that direction, I might as well be Superman and fly around with no physics applied.

What I'm trying to say is that the rush of swinging comes from having to fire the right weblines, so that gravity or momentum doesn't kill you. Swinging should feel "dangerous" (maybe a better word would be "risky"), so that when you're good at it, you get a sense of achievement that makes you feel like Spider-man. If swinging is automated like driving a car, then it feels like you're not doing anything special, so what's the point of playing a super-hero?
 
WoS definitely has good air combat and swing mechanics. It feels pretty damn fluid.
 
SM3 as ****** as it was, had the best swinging mechanics of any Spidey game.
 
I can't be opinionated with the movie games, but I will say the gameplay and swinging mechanics on WoS have been the best with any Spidey game, imo.
 
Eh, I disagree. It did feel pretty damn good next to Spider-Man 3's swinging mechanics. The wallsprint was well incorporated too... it's just the web zip that was a bit of a let down.
 
The entire physics engine of WoS was wacky. Everything was just a tad bit...off. Especially his "dive" after letting go of a web just looked and felt weird.
 
Well, I enjoyed it. Like I mentioned once in a different thread, I spent dozens of minutes just by swinging when I had WoS. Enjoyed that aspect the most, then the combat/gameplay, but mostly from the swinging. I loved it.
 
I mean, it's not bad by any means. It just paled so much in comparison to the engine that SM2 and 3 had. Although I enjoyed WoS far more than I enjoyed SM3, but not as much as SM2.
 
In WOS I missed the swinging on street poles that was in SM2, as well as how you could shot two webs and do a super launch thing.
 
Spiderman edge of time was a huuuge let down. After playing batman arkham asylum i was so shocked at how much effort can be put into making a great game and actually making you feel like the character! Closest i ever felt to being spider man was in ultimate spidey. I want a spidey game that makes arkham city look like actual competition. Shattered dimensions was cool at the moment but after batman arkham asylum( which i discovered last november) i cant believe i actually looked foward to smsd. BAC has me so hyped and i wish i could feel the same for the best superhero of them all but batmans getting all the attention

How were you able to play Edge of Time when it doesn't come out till October?
 
Well the graphics and story do mean al ot to me in a video game. Those are my two top priorities. Im sure the story will be cool and all but the graphics and the whole deal with time travel and saving the world..... Not looking foward to that in a spidey game
 
And ive already played 2099. Noir was my favorite part of smsd anyways. I want a green goblin centered game. Sue me if im unoriginal but i was spiderman: rykers island if you know what i mean lol
 
My biggest complaint about WOS, was that the free-roaming sucked. The city felt...weird. It was much better in SM2 & SM3.
 
i dont like how in spidey games you dont feel so small. i mean get in a helicopter in grand theft auto and fly through the city and you feel like a guy in a helicopter flying between buildings, in spidey games. it feels.. weird. your too big or the buildings are too small.
 
Yeah I've pretty much felt the same. The buildings don't feel tall and big enough, so the city doesn't feel as big as it should be.

Next time they go free-roam, they should cut off some parts of the city to make the area itself a bit smaller. Then they should make the buildings taller and make the city much more detailed.
 
I always scale the buildings and the window proportions are right but the whole over all feel doest feel right
 
There's a lot of things they need to address in a free roam Spidey game, amongst what has already been mentioned:

THE CAMERA, more specifically, the camera lock. No more fidgety camera lock that has a mind of its own. -__-
