I agree. They could have used the time making Edge of Time to make the tie in game.

Or they could use the time to perfect Edge of Time, release it around the time the movie comes out, and completely ignore doing a tie-in.

It still hurts that the two best games IMO are based on movies, not 100% comics, but it's nice to see they can both blend to make the perfect Spider-Man game, I hope devs could do something such as that

There's not really anything wrong with Spiderman Edge of Time, except that they kept the ridiculous web attacks with the amazing spiderman... HE DOESN'T DO THAT KIND OF STUFF IN THE COMICS!!!!! I liked Shattered Dimensions and look forward to Edge of Time, but I absolutely hate webhammers and webfists and such. Just so annoying. It's the point where I call BS on the whole thing. Maybe if Spidey had telekinesis or Mr. Fantastic powers it could make sense, but it just looks stupid. It looked stupid in the older comics, too.

I hope normal thugs (assuming they make a movie tie-in) aren't able to beat Spidey, or even block or dodge well. I picked up Spider-Man 3 again a few weeks ago, not remembering most of the controls, and I nearly died fighting normal thugs. Then when you try to punch them they block, or shoot a web and they jump out of the way

At this point it will probably have a development cycle of less than a year, meaning that if it happens it'll be the usual tie-in crap.

In the very early comics? Well it doesn't matter, who wants to see Spidey do that crap in a videogame? I know that Spider-man isn't exactly a realistic character, but him doing those ridiculously big web hammers/ web sacks out of nowhere is just absurd

I guess Im in the minority here, But I didn't like Shattered dimensions. I am NOT looking forward to edge of time, man, this is the last thing I wanted. Using the same animations and whatnot it looks too.

Id rather have the free roaming spider-man games back. Yikes.

Edge of Time is actually a free roaming game, but it's just inside alchemax. But still you're definitely not a minority not liking Shattered Dimensions. And even though I'm looking forward to Edge of Time, it's a bit of a disappointment since it's so much like Shattered Dimensions in terms of combat and animation

Ahhh, I didnt know it was like that. Not like it even helps its case for me. Shattered put a sour taste in my mouth. The originality was there, i totally respect them for that... but there was just something I didn't dig about it. Perhaps NPH? perhaps boring gameplay(to me) run around beat things up for 3/4ths of the game. I dont know, The glitches in the game for me were also game breaking, i got screwed over alot with glitches, so it definatly soured my response to it alot.

I thought the graphics were great, I loved playing a proper comic book spiderman (minus the terrible NPH voice) The Sandman boss fight for me was the stand out. Now that was cool. Otherwise Edge of time looks like just another rehash lol. Same diving/falling gimmick and all. I didnt even like 2099 the best out of the dimensions.

Well, to be fair, the overall gameplay will change a LOT, and the combat system has some improvement. But otherwise I agree with you

I sure hope so haha. I welcome more focus too. Im glad they are splitting it in half and going with only two dimensions.

Id love to love this game. I need a great keeper of a Spidey game for my shelf. I sold Shattered as soon as I beat it.

We have still the movie game to look forward to, right? It may not be perfect but it may be even better than Edge of Time. It will propably have New York free roaming, and we wont get those ridiculous web hammer/ web sack attacks from Shattered Dimensions

Indeed. Still nothing has topped the feel of the original PS1 Spidey. Its outdated as hell now, but damn was the right kind of comic book feel there. No need for friggin Time travel, Dimension jumping BS.

Web of Shadows ALMOST hit the nail, really. Theres some things I hate about that game(Spideys voice..for real!?) but other things I just absolutely LOVE about it. Too bad it doesn't have trophies on PS3 man, Or else id give that another playthrough.

The movie Spidey games have been great to me, but Raimis world I just dont really dig translated into video games. Im hoping Webbs world would translate alot better for me. Tobeys boring phoned in voice just didnt put the kick in there it needed, Despite spider-man two being ridiculously addictive at the time it came out. G'damn. I didnt even go outside to swim that summer, I was stuck on my Ps2 playin that muther- trying to put together the perfect swing run haha.
