Spider-Man: Brand New Day General News and Discussion Thread

DanielRPK said that the main villain is one that hasn't even been discussed yet. Maybe the female villain that is allegedly being played by either Nicole Kidman or Sarah Snook?
Kidman and Snook have such wildly different vibes to me, it would be hard to imagine them up for the same part

Snook is a legit great actress in her own right, and I'd be really happy with her. But Kidman excels at playing the sort of icy, intimidating, powerful woman described by that casting call. I hope it's true that she's in this.

Thollandrchive: “The students at the Hisako Film Lab (founded by director Destin Daniel Cretton) were surprised last night by a video message from Tom Holland and Sadie Sink on the set of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’!”

Director Destin Daniel Cretton has reposted/announced that Tom Holland and Sadie Sink have started filming. There’s some speculation that the photographer is mistaken and that their actual location is actually the principal unit filming in studio or studio backlot and not the streets of Glasgow where second unit/stunt filming has been taking place.

Latest gossip video reshared or created by (I’m not sure) ‘TomAndrewTobey’ is that filming in Glasgow will end on Thursday. He claims that the extended filming reported by the big sites has been confused with road closures for another movie. Yesterday’s filming he says involved closed off sets in some areas as Spider-Man prevented a tank from colliding with a bus as movie extras ran away on set. Filming today in the relative same location he claims - maybe further up onto St. Vincent street. Wednesday and Thursday will be in another location, he believes it will make use of the Citation Building as a backdrop. I think it kind of looks like a NY government building, like a courthouse maybe.

People seem to be confusing a random production assistant carrying equipment with Sadie. This person is also wearing a badge on their backside like the other crew members and the one guy is handsy at the start of the video with her a little bit which wouldn't with someone new on set.

SpideyUpdated: "Despite rumours, Joe Keery is likely to not be playing Harry Osborn. @DanielRPK"

ViewerAnon: "Considering he knows that Harry became a supervillain in another universe, and Harry’s dad from said universe is the psycho who murdered May… why would MCU Peter get anywhere near a guy named Harry Osborne now?"

No Way Home script said:

Wait, so you want Spider-Man’s

He... he just wandered in.

I didn’t know where else to go.

I really hope there's less reliance on CGI this time around, and when it is used, it's more polished. Because I remember my heart sinking in theaters after seeing the poorly-disguised archival footage of Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans in NWH, even though I enjoyed the movie overall.

All that stuff was cause of COVID though. I doubt it will look like that post Covid

True. Still, the MCU has been hit-or-miss with CGI even without COVID being a factor. I hope it looks good here and that there's a little less of it.

Sure, but your point was about the recycled footage from other movies in NWH. They only did that cause of COVID restrictions and being unable to get them on set.

What are everyone's thoughts about the Spider-Slayers theory floating around? A user on X speculated that the rumored samurai-looking character could be Allistair Smythe wearing his armor. Perhaps the rumored female villain is a gender bent Spencer Smythe.
