Comics Spider-Man/ FF-4 Team Up

Thought i'd start a thread for the Spidey FF-4 team up that starts this week. Here's a preview: http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album_view.php?gid=936&page=1

It looks pretty good so far, Slott is nailing the characteriztions and for once, we're actually acknowledging the past! Its good to see pete with his mask off with the FF-4 again.

Looks good! Always love when these guys get together.

To heck with the Avengers...if there's ANY team Peter should have joined, it's the FF.

:spidey: :ff:

Haha, I just saw this in another thread and expressed the same sentiments. I don't know about full blown membership, maybe in an Ant-Man like role. Actually I would like to see the Fantastic Four title become the Fantastic Five for awhile. It would have worked much better than him joining with the Avengers, but since he already has it would seem like overkill having him join the FF.

In an interview with Slott over at CBR he says that the FF 'lost' the information that Peter was Spider-Man from the mini along with everyone else as a result of BND. He also says that the FF find that suspicious, and that the "we" Peter says in New ways to die in reference to "what WE did is still in place" is absolutely not referring to Mephisto as part of the 'we'.

So my question is this: Why do even the preview pages show him helmet off and named by Johnny? This stands only if the entire story isnt a five page flashback followed by how this vague memory irks Reed in that he can't place the face or draw up the name so he takes the team to confront Spidey

Sounds like a story to me...

More importantly, If Dan Slott wrote a story in the middle of the woods, would anybody read it?

I would actually hunt in the woods till I find that story thats how much I like Dan Slott.

Maybe "We" is Peter and Reed Richards....

I'm willing to bet that this issue starts off with this untold story from "a couple of years ago" and then flashes to today when something happens that brings the FF and Spidey back together again because of something that happens in this flashback.

So...anybody read this today? Was it good?

^^ I actually didn't get a chance to pick up my copy today. Tommorow, I defenitely will though.

I read it and loved it. I just wish part 2 came out right now instead of in 2 weeks.

Maybe "We" is Peter and Reed Richards....

After reading Part One and reading between the lines,

...I'd say that you're right...

As Reed makes a cheque out to cash for Spidey, he comments about how "we know how you feel about protecting your true identity. Even from us."...

... and later on in the macroverse, when the Torch suggests to everybody that Spidey did something to make him forget who he was, Reed tries to dismiss it and to talk about it later...

:yay

It's definately plausible. Keep in mind that [BLACKOUT]Professor Richards[/BLACKOUT] has some experience in the whole let's make the whole world forget territory. (see [BLACKOUT]Sentry[/BLACKOUT])

I can't wait to see what Johnny sees. (Probably a pixelated face....)

This issue also made me think that Bendis, either:
A) could give a crap about other people's work
B) has no idea how much crap Marvel has been taking to get this genie back in the bottle
C)refuses to follow any rules if it gets in the way of a way-cool super-fantastic scene
D) should take writing lessons from Dan Slott

The answer of course is D), since the others are so obviously fact, that they don't even belong in a multiple choice where there may be even a hint of doubt.

^^^Yeah after I read this issue I was thinking didn't they just unmask him in New Avengers. I'm sure it was planned out in advanced it's not like Dan Slott got New Avengers 51 and went "WHAT THE F***! thats my story. Bendis is on my list". but I agree all of the above are completely true about Bendis. I wish it showed what Johnny saw in this issue though.

Planned out in advance? Bendis? Seriously?

Kidding aside, I'm sure DS is a professional and all that, but I sure wouldn't blame him if he(and the whole spidey-team) were a little miffed.

I'm thinking there's just going to be another mask right under the original one. Or if Reed was the other part of "we" then maybe he really quickly stretched out to cover his face from everyone?

While I might buy reed as the guy, why was he asking him about it when they first came to him?

Damn pete was a dick to johnny, he apparently like ronin a lot more. He totally deserved to get his head lit on fire.

Mr. Neg is definately going to be mayor, did anyone not see that coming?

Harry's on the sauce again? WTF was the point of last weeks Extra with harry leading the AA meeting? That was a good story though.

All and all this was probably the best BND issue that featured spider-man.

It's actually a thought that never occurred to me.

I've actually been assuming that it's probably Jameson that becomes Mayor. Never thought about Neg.

Its not like Bendis could do whatever he wants with spiderman. I'm sure that the unmasking in front of the avengers was brought to the attention of Quesada and the rest of the braintrust and they gave him the "ok" to do it. I'm sure Bendis coordinates with Dan Slott and everybody else.

Hmmm, JJJ that I didn't think of. That has some pastabilities.
