PREVIEW HERE

Good news! We're finally gonna see the Rucka and JH Williams III Batwoman issues, and in the pages of Detective Comics no less. Looking at at least 12 issues. I think it's a very interesting move having Batwoman take over Detective.

From what we've seen of her so far I don't like the character at all. and I've lately been avoiding moody crime comics the kind Rucka and his ilk put out, I'm sick to death of them. That said I'm really looking forward to this, I know Rucka should be able to make her interesting. And Williams well enough said.

Paul Dini will be on a new Batman related title, and "possibly in more than one spot".

Other announcents from the New York Convention....a brand new 'Batman & Robin' title, Red Robin and something called Gotham City Sirens. These are all apparently on-going. and something might be up with Oracle.

This is awesome cause the potential of Batwoman's return has not even been scratched yet. Rucka brings her into the picture in 52 and then afterwards DC does nothing with her for about 3 years. If anybody could save that character from fading without making any impact it's Rucka. I also love JH Williams III his work on Morrison's International League of Batmen arc and Dini's The Beautiful People ('tec #821) stands as some of the best artwork on Batman in the past 5 years. His style completely complements the tone of Gotham and Batman's world.

I'm guessing Dini will be writing that Batman: Streets of Gotham book. Batman & Robin I still hope will be starring Hush & Damian I know that Morrison is writing it so he could really go all out with that concept. BATMAN will more than likely focus on Bruce Wayne and his escaping the omega sanction. Can't wait till this summer.

err... i would definitely not agree, but to each his own.

I mean if we all liked the same thing what would be the point of boards like this? Naturally I'm curious as to what you didn't like about it though. Care to elaborate? here's why I consider his work on the Club of Heroes arc to not only be a career highlight but his best work on Batman to date.

It was the level of detail that went into each panel like wrinkles on the cowl, his impeccable use of shadows that a lot of his peers just can't match, and the creative layouts which accentuate his visual storytelling that made me wish Williams had pencilled Morrison's entire run up to date. Cause he's one of the only artists (Frank Quitely amd J.G. Jones being others) that understands how to translate Morrison's obtuse scripts into sequential artwork.

The titles do give alot of hint on what to come, i'd except "Batman and Robin" being about Dick Grayson training Damian Wayne as Batman or sum.

I wish theyd just put Bruce Wayne Batman in Detective again. I'm not really a fan of change...especially the changes going around the Batman comics lately...

I kind of went into this a bit in a different thread but I'm glad this thread exists because I was somewhat outraged at NYCC's anouncements for June.
First, the only great Batman book out right now is Detective Comics, and Paul Dini is now being replaced with Batwoman. Don't get me wrong, the story could be interesting and Rucka is geat, but as with most of the recent news I ask: Why? I know Dini will get another book, and that will be neat to have him starting a series and having his own book but again: Why?
Second, Batman books tying into Blackest Night. This tells me that since the point of Blackest Night will be "the dead shall rise," that here is DC's way of bringing Bruce back. Am I right? maybe maybe not. Point is: Why? Why the crossovers? Why can't we have Batman in his own books and not have to read anything else to see the current continuity of Batman? Why did I have to spend money on FC to see how Batman died, and then transcended death into a seperate universe...?
I guess my big complaints fall into the fact that we cannot just gab the latest issue of Batman or Detective and know what is going on. Working at a comic shop, when a customer walks in trying to get back into or start into comics and they like Batman or Spider-Man, I can't just hand them what is going on right now. I need to give them a stack of trades and a few crossover titles before they can jump into anything.
Yet amongst the bad there is good. I am excited for the outcome of Battle for the Cowl and the new series coming out: Batman and Robin, Batgirl, Streets of Gotham, and Gotham City Sirens. From the titles they could all be very interesting and the saving grace for fans like me, much like Detective has been throughout Morrison's run. Although I do not agree with Bruce's death, I hope he is dead for a long time. Let someone else take over the mantle for a few years. They already "killed" him, why not let it run and make it something more than a gimmick, which it seems to be right now.

why why why? why should anything change. they obviously want to put Ruckas Batwoman in the spotlight and moving her to Tec clearly does that, not hard to grasp. Your Dini will still be writing somewhere else, as you admit, but seem to ignore in all your why why why. New readers, well you can give them jump on books like Battle of the Cowl, Batman & Robin, Dini's Gotham Sirens, whatever you like, they don't all need ther hands held and everything explained to them. Batman being ressurected in Blackest Night...well you're just running away with an assumption there that i bet with 99% certainty is quite wrong.
