I'm really looking forward to both FNSM and SSM. I think I've seen Spidey think about God in some of JMS' earlier issues with JRJR. I'm looking forward to what his thoughts are on it in this one. Also, I haven't seen much of JJJ since the unmasking, I'm interested in how he's going to take it.

How many "most controversial" stories can you have until you have officially alienated everyone? How about writing a "decent" story sometime.

SSM sounds pretty funny, a conversation with a God.

And no ASM, again

I've never read a Spider title in which he references God. I'll probably pick it up just to see how it's handled.

love the cover to FNSM #23

Okay Joe....how can MJ help Peter when there is a ton of weight on him, that has him TRAPPED, along with her added weight? Why not be smart for once and have her next to Peter trying to pull him out instead of up.

*heavy sigh* Joe, got back to whatever you did before you destroyed everything, which was eating doughnuts or something.

There's been a few issues with Pete having "conversations" with god. I wish I had the issue numbers in front of me. One conversation was right when him and MJ got back together in the biblical sense after one of the times Marvel tried to kill her off. The conversations are usually rather humourous and Pete has a tendency to reference his constant bad luck. :yay:

FNSM #20

"HEY! GOD! YOU LISTENING? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!?"

Not quite a conversation, but it was a pretty funny panel considering his exchange with the guy in the window.

"I WANT YOU TO SHADDUP WHOEVER YOU ARE!!"

"HOW ABOUT YOU SHADDUP!"

:woot:

I actually love this cover. Great artwork by JQ.
It's too bad tho, I think JQ has the most inconsistent work. One days he has ****ty work, and then does this....

lol

As much as I dislike JoeQ and am really not looking forward to what he has planned in One More Day, I will defend the artistic license being used in this picture. It's symbolic; unless you really think Pete is going to be trapped under a giant rock that is carved into the phrase "One More Day".

That actually might be more enjoyable that what ol' Q has in store for us.

What are you talking about? They've been writing a BUNCH of great stories lately...

Let me start you off with the most recent: Sensational Spider-MAn Annual #1.

I have it, its pretty decent. Lets have a parade for it.

Things are looking pretty sweet for August. Both FNSM and SSM sound great as usual. Really digging that FNSM cover. But what is up with there being no Amazing Spider-Man in August? Hasn't Marvel screwed us enough with the heavy delays on ASM over the past 6 or 7 months? Meh.

If Romita Jr. were still on the book none of this would have happened! :cmad:

Yeah, I've noticed that ASM is getting behind, too. Nothing too huge, but a few weeks here and there, adding up. But you'd think with all the time Joe Q's had that he'd be ready with his stuff.

It's looking great.Too bad there's no Amazing Spider-Man this month...

Joe Q is very slow w/ the old pencils, prob because of all the eating he does when he should be working.

Like you say tom123- you would think w/ the head start he has had the arc would be close to done by now. In reality he's probably on the second issue.

Remember DD Father- (I did not buy that crap but-) that was ridiculously slow. I won't be surprised if the OMD issues are delayed every month.

Il be picking up ASM (since its JMS last arc HURRAY!!!) with FNSM & SSM as usual.

That OMD cover image looks cool....too bad the preview art for the issue didn't look this good. Really, it's like Joe Q is good for one great picture a year, and the rest are less than great.

I'll probably end up READING OMD...but I don't know whether or not I'll buy it, yet. I'll definitely be getting SSM and FNSM, though.

It seems to me Quesada is implying that MJ is an extra weight/burden that's crushing the life out of Spider-Man. I don't fully agree with that opinion, but it is the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw that cover.

As for your last statment, you don't know how right you are. According to a friend of mine, a comic store owner with a couple of industry contacts

Bad times are a-comin

Marvel wants to put the character of Spider-Man into such an awful predicament that the readers will be so relieved to get ‘their’ Spidey back that the ret-con will ‘go down’ easier.

After all that Marvel has done to Peter in the past couple of years, it seems rather obvious that the current incarnation of the character is no longer viable and that allof this was part of some grand design.

Eye Doc

By the way how do you post those images here anyway?

Not really man. I saw him last February at NY Comic con, and he had lost 65 pounds...no telling how much more he's lost since then.

Care to mention any others?

The Taking Wing Arc over at FNSM was one of the best Spidey arcs since the Hydra arc in 2005. The "Hyde" arc over at SSM was better than average (sans the off panel beat down of Hyde) and left a particular interesting plot point at the end with Peter's young prodigy.....and FNSM'S current arc is starting off strong......then there was the already mentioned SSM Annual, the one shot about Mary Jane in SSM, Reign, etc etc.....

edited to add : let's not forget the ongoing Spidey/Fantastic Four mini
