Since Sony's success at the BO this year is almost entirely dependent on the use of Marvel licensed characters, this should be obvious.

My thinking is posters who use Spider-Verse's glowing reviews to take shots at MCU fans are the petty ones.

yeah this is a pretty good start. I like how the Verge review says you'll definitely enjoy it more of if you're deep in Spider lore. Which I'm glad of as I'm sick reviews that say "you don't need to be a fan to enjoy it." I want them to cater to me at times, dammit.

Though confusing grammatically - Sony's made an awful lot of money recently using Marvel licensed characters - it appears to be a (poorly worded) criticism of MCU fans who prefer that the live action deal with Sony continue. But if not, please excuse my oversensitive thinking.

There's no probably, lol. It's beyond obvious that this movie has been made by people who love and respect Spider-Man and his world; Venom on the other hand was just a cash grab... a cynical cash grab that you damn humans have turned into one of the most successful movies of 2018.
