Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse News and General Discussion Thread

It's a great soundtrack all together.
Scared of the Dark, Home, Sunflower, even Jaden Smith has a good song in the movie.

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it here at work.

So, the movie is coming back to my local theaters this weekend.

Highly tempted to see it again.

So the post credit scene?

Miguel O’Hara and holographic A.I. partner Lyla,

Was that just a fun one-off nod, to the Shattered Dimensions game, which was somewhat the catalyst for the whole into the spider-verse team-up, then featured : Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man Noir, Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099.
So they just wanted to include him as a nod at the end?
And for a great one-time gag! ( can't afford more from Isaac?)

Or was this a legit prep for potential sequels? With Fisk's machine destroyed, setting Miguel and Lyla with a way to dimension jump, and put together the team again. (and more!)?

Really would love to see more of them...

I can’t believe I missed that that was one of my favourite actors as Spider-Man 2099 . I hope he comes back as a mjor character in the sequel or one of the spin-offs. His cameo was awesome and he sounded like a great Spider-Man

I also hope the set-up was to have him Lyla (and the 2099 tec. be the vehicle for ongoing /spider-verse/dimension hops. And Óscar is on board for the sequels.
Looks like many missed who was behind that role; although some figure customizers are on top of it....

I have high hopes for this in Japan. Whenever we get the box office results.

I'm loving the Japanese voices...
I knew I heard the voice of Peter Parker before. Boy, I know someone who will cringe at what I will do when I see him next time, I'll play the first Death Note intro on Spider-Man footage.

This movie was damn near flawless, but there has been one thing that's bugged me since I've seen the movie... Why did ...

Kingpin shoot Prowler instead of Miles? That scene would have worked better if Kingpin went to shoot Miles and Prowler jumps in front of the bullet to sacrifice himself for his nephew. Why is Kingpin wasting a bullet on one of his enforcers? Maybe I missed something.

What you say makes sense, and even could have played more dramatic, leaving Prowler with a final redemption, stronger heroic finish.
Ultimately Miles [and the audience] sees him that way anyway, he sees Miles has the chance he never imagined for himself, or got to be, the hero, and lets him go be that...which is really all that maters.]
As for King Pin, as told, I'll read it as King Pin is to the end a control freak, needs to know he is in charge in control of everything to the smallest detail, at all cost. On some level the betrayal of someone he sees a subordinate (someone he thinks he controls) is such a direct personal affront , this rage may momentarily blind him to the bigger goal, and for an instant take precedence over all his further machinations.
Like- how dare this cog in my machine not move when I say so, if I can't control this small thing right here right now, I don't control anything . Again control on all levels being his ultimate goal.

This is something I think the filmmakers probably debated over and in the end I think they made the right choice. Prowler 'taking' a bullet for Miles may have earned him a redemption but he already earned redemption by pulling the mask back over Miles' face and refusing to harm him even under Kingpin's orders. He made the right choice. As for Kingpin shooting Prowler and not Miles...I think the answer in the post above is the reason. Kingpin is shown thru the movie being run by his emotions. How dare one of his 'employees' not carry out an order! This is what happens when you don't follow orders...
