I got a kick out of seeing Avi Arad on stage. That guy's had a great year!

Super happy to see this movie won, it pushed the medium and told a great universal tale that embraced the source material.

The two best Spider-Man movies are now Oscar winners!

Do you have an Academy Award for best animated feature, Batman? What, no? How about you, Superman? Do you have one, Iron Man? No? Looks like I'm the only one that has one!

Seriously, congrats on the most well-deserved win of the night. The movie that should have won the award actually won the award. My Gwen asked me when Spider-Gwen first debuted if she would have a movie. I told her, probably not. Now, here I am, happily wrong. What am awesome time to be a Spidey fan. If only we had another Spider-Man movie coming out in a few months... ;)

Congrats to Into the Spider-Verse! Well deserved

Surprising, amazing...spectacular, even.

A truly worthy Oscar win for the best film this year.

Best film this year...PERIOD. I think that's what I always enjoyed about Awards season, knowing that the film that wins best picture is often something so "groundbreaking", yet totally forgettable. In 5 years, who will be watching "movie X"? Who knows? I have had so few times where I am watching an academy award winning film even a year after it has won it accolades. There ARE some exceptions (Lord of The Rings), but there are also films like The Empire Strikes Back, which win nothing, yet withstand the test of time far better than other films of its day.
Spider-verse (and Black Panther) will be watched for years to come, and may endure even longer thanks to their messages and cultural impact. In 10 years, Green Book will be in the $5 DVD/Blu-Ray bin near the entrance of your local Wal-Mart with the direct to DVD Kung-Fu Panda knock-offs....but Spider-Verse will still be marketed (as will Black Panther), and still remind people of something more than just superheroes or just a story. (not to say Green Book isn't amazing, I haven't seen it yet)

If it hadn't won an award, it would still be up there for me...
...but it did, and now everyone can see those shiny little statues and say, "Man, these films are good enough even the academy had to give them props".
Well done, indeed.

Crazy to think that a movie that was initially panned as a cash grab has just won an Oscar.
Between this and Venoms success Amy Pascal and Avi must feel quite vindicated.

I think Oscar winning Spiderverse has earned his own forum at this point. :)

There will be an “Alt-Universe Cut” of the movie with tons of unused material that didn’t make the final cut including a more accurate take on Miles and Ganke’s relationship which was removed because of Ned in Homecoming.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to Receive 'Alt-Universe Cut'

Well, duh, lol. Ned IS Ganke! At least the ITSV creators are smart enough to understand this but I disagree with them not including that relationship in the film. If it was cut for time then sure but because of Homecoming? That's stupid. Ganke is a supporting character for Miles, not Peter. And although I don't hate Ned from Homecoming, I'd be willing to lay money down that when I get to see this Alt Universe take, Ganke will most likely be the better character.

Even they admit Ned was just Ganke :lmao:

Hopefully the Alt-Universe Cut is on the 4K copy I pre-ordered.

I think it's being included with the theatrical, so you should be good.

Frankly, Ganke would make Miles' issues with his new school less. He wouldn't be as isolated at his new school if he had a friend like Ganke there. And the family relationships were much more important for this story than anything else. It is a good call for more reasons than Ned.

What's up Danger? should have been nominated for Best Song. When you hear it in the movie as he takes his swing to becoming Spider-man, it works so well.

It's a great soundtrack all together.
Scared of the Dark, Home, Sunflower, even Jaden Smith has a good song in the movie.
