That was my thought. Also, Kingpin isn't Bullseye. He's not a perfect marksman. He may have fired a bullet and figured, "I'll get one of them".Also, from that angle, he likely didn't have a shot at Miles.
Got my copy yesterday! I really don’t understand why an animated superhero movie not named ‘The Incredibles’ is such a hard sell for so many people. I told two people at work and my brother that this was a movie worth seeing and even though they all watch Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks animated films they said ‘no’ to this. One called it a children’s film, another said a superhero like Spider-Man shouldn’t be animated...
Oh well they don’t know what they’re missing out on.
That way of thinking is so close-minded it hurts. I got more out of Spider-Verse than I do out of most movies I've seen recently, it had so much power. Plus it was a visual feast, not to mention all the heaps of praise and attention it got it seems like a movie not to ignore. Spidey has been animated since the 60s lol.Got my copy yesterday! It's worth stating that the best iterations of Spider-Man, in film and television, are both animated productions.
My boss up here at work saw it, and said it sucked. I was just...blown away. He said the animation was all jumpy and the story didn't make sense. He also thought Incredibles 2 was awesome. It wasn't bad, but when the Pixar movies keep raking in the dough and the experimental films keep doing okay, then we're gong to keep getting Pixar-looking films. I'm so happy Spider-Verse won the Oscar. Maybe this means we'll start seeing more expressive and artistic animation. I can only imagine a Fantastic Four film done like Spider-Verse...
I think that's because they can fly under the Arad-radar and do what they want. Arad and Pascal are the ones who forced Venom on Raimi back in the day...and the ones who tried to force a reboot, force a Sinister Six film...the list goes on and on.
In a perfect world, Spectacular Spider-Man would have went for 5 seasons and Venom in Spider-Man 3 wouldn't have been played by a guy that 90% of the guys watching the movie could have beaten in a fist fight.
I don’t read comics anymore but have loved the MCU, it’s brought back great childhood memories of why I loved comics in the first place. It’s also made me appreciate heroes I never cared about before - really awesome.
Anyway, saw SMITSV this weekend (rented on demand) and I’ve watched it 4 times. I love the action, the story, the music, everything. But I have some questions about Miles Morales from comic compared to the movie, if anyone cares to answer - is his origin story much different in comics? Does the death of Uncle Aaron ignite him like Uncle Ben for traditional Spider-Men? Does he wear Jordan’s in the comics? His suit in the movie was perfect with the graffiti spider.
I look forward to more movies following this mold. As someone else said, I don’t think a live action Miles Morales story could compare. This was about perfect.
1. In the comic Aaron broke into Oscorp and the spider snuck into his bag. Miles getting into the thanks to the lottery is the same as the comic. Miles gets bitten when he heads to Aaron’s apartment and he passed out. In the comics Miles’ dad is bigoted towards mutants and people with abilities in general plus the world hates mutants so he doesn’t use his abilities for months until Peter dies and Miles feels guilty so he becomes Spider-Man to make up for it with Ganke’s help.
2. No. When Aaron finds out Miles is the new Spider-Man he tries to blackmail Miles into committing crimes with him and he dies during their fight due to faulty equipment. Peter death was Miles’ Uncle Ben moment in the comic.
3. I don’t recall him wearing Jordan’s in the comic.
Well I'm not sure what to say about someone that thought the story was jumping around...seemed pretty straight forward to me. But I can't fault someone for not liking the animation or the visual design. I know myself and when I don't like the visual look of something, it can ruin the experience. While I thought ITSV was absolutely gorgeous, it does hit up your senses fairly hard at first. I can honestly see how some people might be turned off by it.
Isn't Arad leading the Sony comic film universe though?
He did Venom, which I still haven't seen and he's doing Morbius.
Well, with Venom, if you temper your expectations, it's not BAD. They completely changed his origin. There is no Spider-Man. If you an get past that, it's enjoyable. It's a FUN movie, and the symbiote's characterization is on point. Speaking as an avid Venom fan, this was better than Spider-Man 3 by leaps and bounds. A low bar, to be sure, but it is what it is.
Spider-Man 2099 May Get His Own Spider-Verse Spinoff
Sony Developing Spider-Verse Spinoff For Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir
Wouldn't be surprised if this was true as Sony is developing stuff for TV/Film.
I'm no fan of the symbiotes. I've never liked Venom...his origin in the comics is lame. But I'm open to adaptations--TSSM had a good version.
I'm waiting to see this until it's on TV or Netflix.
I'm happy with what they used in the movie.
