No Way Home Spider-Man: No Way Home Spoiler Discussion Thread

If I have one nitpick its that I wish the musical cues for T&A were stronger when they entered the film and maybe during their action beats. I thought overall Giacchino's score for this movie was fantastic but it would added an extra layer of awesomeness if the older themes were a little more prevalent.

Yeah, it's pretty weird Giacchino used the villain's motifs more than the hero themes. I only remember hearing Elfman's Spider-Man theme twice, James Horner's once, but Elfman's Green Goblin and Doc Ock themes several times.

I gotta say, I think they handled the MCU Spidey's suit here a lot better than previous appearances. The ratio of CGI and real looking shots of the suit was much better and appropriate, there were a lot of times where I was looking at the suit and it looked real and I couldn't believe it.

Not denying that it looked better then the past MCU movies but there were some massive cgi botches. I think when the dust settles people will notice more of them. The sequence of Andrew saving MJ looked absolutely horrible especially the landing. The CGI looked so awkward and rushed for that part as if they threw it in last minute. Such a powerful moment in the movie and it was just executed in a very average way because of it.

Also, the fan made shot of the iconic moment after they swing together, of 3 of them posing together on the Statue of Liberty before the 3 vs 3 slow
Motion jump…looked better then the movie shot did. Tobey’s Spider-Man in particular looked so damn bad in that shot of them posing.

Too many rushed looking CGI portions. It looks sometimes as if Andrew/Tobey were thrown in last minute.

I would’ve melted with joy if we got MCU Ditkovich at the end at Peter’s new apartment, would’ve been the only thing to take this movie from a 10 to an 11
A top tier after credits scene would have been Mr. Ditkovich defying all logic and reality coming into the MCU and knocking the landlord out with a lamp to become Peter's eternal landlord wherever he is.

I’ve said before but I really was expecting him to pop up once we got to Peter’s new room. “Rent!” should have been the last word of the film.

Watching some audience reaction videos, and man I miss seeing this thing again on opening night already. Seeing a bunch of people go nuts when Andrew shows up and chanting “TOBEY TOBEY TOBEY” after that put the biggest dumbest smile on my face

Even though I agree, I still very much appreciate the use of Danny Elfmans theme in a subtle way when Tobey enters. You can hear the piano cues and everything.

Btw, apparently Tobey and Andrew initially were hesitant to sign on. They wanted to read the script first and had to be reassured they weren't gonna just be cameos. Goes to show how much of a connection these actors have to their versions. They wanted it to be special and oh man it was VERY special. Been rewatching clips on YouTube nonstop.

I mentioned this earlier, maybe some fresh perspectives might help. I didn't understand how Tobey's villains are from the same universe but different times. Did I miss this or does "magic" just answer anything not understood? I didn't think the multiverse also dealt with time travel. I just thought the other universes ran side by side with our timeline.

They don't, just like how in the comics we can have an alternate universe where Spider-Man is a hero in the 1930s, 1602 or 2099.

We know time travel is a thing in this world. Dr Stranges spell was plucking characters across time too

Its also the first time characters outside of the MCU movies have crossed over into the MCU right?

The use of continuity from the Raimi and Webb movies was cool.

Yeah, that or Hawkeye ep.5 depending on the status of the Netflix series.

So Electro knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, he just doesn’t know what Peter Parker looks like right? That works for me. Harry Osborn could have easily said the name in front of him when they’re busting up OsCorp.

Question: Is the scenario Electro describes before he was pulled into the MCU his finale fight from ASM2?

I still don’t like that Octavius knew about Norman Osborn being the Goblin; and same with Sandman (but it’s okay that Sandman knows about Octavius drowning in the river).

The world can know that the Green Goblin died that night after the fight at the bridge but not that it’s Norman Osborn. Octavius can still call Osborn a walking corpse when he later sees him in Strange’s basement because Osborn is still dead in the Raimi-verse as former scientist-CEO of OsCorp, right? And then Marko can tell Octavius he is too.

If anything, it might make Osborn’s turn at the apartment building all the more shocking/scary for everyone involved if they aren’t aware he’s also the Green Goblin.

It was cool to see Dafoe and Molina interact though. That being said, maybe it would have worked better for these two to banter during an Act III tussle between the two on the Statue of Liberty, while the Spider-Men cure Lizard, Sandman, and Electro.

As far as I know it's just a plot hole. Harry only realised who Peter is when he saw Spidey and Gwen at the clock tower.

I agree with all these points although I would have rather seen Doc Ock and Goblin team up rather than them fighting each other. I don't think they should have cured him in the apartment.

Oh true I forgot that he doesn’t know who Spider-Man is until the clock tower. It’s been a while since I’ve watched, and paid attention, to ASM2.

Would have been cool to see them both team up against Tom Holland Spider-Man on the bridge when they first appear. During the fight, Goblin is blown off the bridge into the water. The fight continues as in the film, with Ock discovering it’s not his Peter Parker before Strange sling-rings them back to the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Meanwhile, instead of a dumpster Osborn washes ashore when he rejects his Goblin persona (temporarily) and smashes his mask. Osborn is disoriented and stumbling around the MCU, trying to find his “home.” We’d see this on screen before Aunt May calls Peter that he’s at FEAST.

Meanwhile at the Sanctum Sanctorum, Doc Ock tells Strange and Peter about the Green Goblin (not Norman). He died years ago at Queensboro Bridge.

The rest of the movie would proceed the same, although I’d have Goblin and Doc Ock battle on the Statue of Liberty for the fun visual alone. And the Spider-Men cure the other three villains.

The scene where his spider sense goes off and he doesn't know why was fantastic. It reminded of SM1 in the unity day festival scene where Peter's spider sense starts to go off and he doesn't know yet its green goblin. Not sure if it was an homage but damn once he webbed Norman's hand. I literally went oh ****.
