Before #1 came out I remember reading some KA speal on Newsarama about how much of a fan of Spider-man he is and how much he loves and respects the legacy of the great creators who have worked on and defined Spidey over the decades, thing is I just don’t see that influence or grasp of the mythos in this story.
It’s just going from bleak to bleaker. Specifically talking about the scenes w/ MJ in #3.
Her being exhumed then us learning that Peter poisoned her w/ his radioactive body.
I don’t buy that, I know this is an alternative future, but how frikkin twisted is it that KA decides it turned out that PP is responsible for the death of his second true love?
You would think KA would realise how clichéd this idea actually is considering the amount of s-hit that has happened to PP/SM, hence it is also statistically unrealistic.
You can call me a ranting fanboy or whatever but I just think some things should be left untouched.
MJ being dead in this series is one thing, ok that’s fine Il go along w/ that, but digging her up and it being revealed that PP was responsible for her developing cancer? that’s just tactless and in bad taste. It seems making Reign as depressing as possible is the only card KA is willing to play in trying to seperate this from being an obvious DKR ripp off. He has been unsuccessful in this area.
Re: Venom showing up in this issue- what’s up w/ that full body shot that we get in the last few pages?
His head does not seem to have been drawn in so it looks like his hunch back is actually the shape of his head, a la Juggernaut style. Thought that looked dumb.
PS- I thought DKSA kicked ass because Miller did somthing different from the original.
